Zac Brown, the lead singer of the Zac Brown Band, has filed for a temporary restraining order against his estranged wife, Kelly Yazdi. The legal action, taken on Friday, May 17, in Georgia’s Fulton County, came after a series of Instagram posts by Yazdi that allegedly accused Brown of "narcissistic abuse."

Brown, 45, asserts that Yazdi, 33, has violated an employee and confidentiality agreement they established in August 2022.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Brown explained, "After much deliberation, I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation. My only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways."

The restraining order, if granted, would compel Yazdi to delete the Instagram post in question. On May 4, Yazdi, who worked for the Zac Brown Band from August 2022 to February 2024, posted a message hinting at her relationship with Brown.

She described behaviour from a person she referred to only as "he" that included instructing her not to "model anymore," remove certain photos from her Instagram, wear specific clothing, and stop posting fitness videos. Yazdi labelled these actions as "Projections. Gaslighting. Threatening. Stonewalling," and termed them "the ingredients of narcissistic abuse."

Court documents filed by Brown's attorneys, and obtained by PEOPLE, state that Yazdi "has taken it upon herself to exact revenge upon Mr. Brown" and his company.

The documents also request that Yazdi refrain from making public statements or disclosing any confidential or private information that would breach her Employee and Confidentiality Agreements. Additionally, they ask Yazdi to avoid making "defamatory, false, untrue, or otherwise damaging statements" about Brown, his family, and the Zac Brown Band members and their families.

Brown and Yazdi announced their divorce in December 2023, just four months after their wedding in Georgia.
