Sonakshi Sinha will not convert to Islam, groom Zaheer Iqbal's father reveals

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are set to embark on a new chapter of their lives as husband and wife. Ditching grand wedding ceremony, Zaheer and Sonakshi will solemnise their union in a civil marriage. The couple will register their union on Sunday (June 23), followed by a wedding reception in Bistro Mumbai.
Preparations are in full swing in both the Iqbal and Sinha households. Before this, the soon-to-be groom's father, Iqbal Ratansi, spilt beans on Sona and Zaheer's wedding, revealing that the Dabangg actress will not be converting to Islam.
Sonakshi and Zaheer's Civil Wedding
Actors Sonakshi and Zaheer come from two different religions, so instead of opting for a religious ceremony, the couple chose to get married in a civil ceremony. No Hindu or Muslim wedding rituals will be performed at the wedding.
In an interview with Free Press Journal, Zaheer's father said, "It will have neither Hindu or Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage," he confirmed. The wedding will be held at Iqbal's Bandra residence on Carter Road.
Their marriage will be as per the Special Marriage Act, of 1954.
Sonakshi Converting to Islam?
When asked whether the Double XL actress will convert to Islam, Ratansi refuted, saying,''In this marriage, religion has no role to play.''
"She is not converting and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever," he added.
"I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi."
Followingcivil marriage that will be held in the presence of close friends and family, the couple has arranged a reception party at Bistro - At The Top in Mumbai. Several Bollywood celebrities are expected to join Sonakshi and Iqbal in their wedding celebration.
