The Indian men’s cricket teamselection committeeis setto announce the squad for the upcomingT20 World Cup as the suspense surrounding thesquadwill finallycome to anend.The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) willhold a meetingin Ahmedabad on Tuesday (April 30) to announce the 15-member squad set to be led by Rohit Sharma. Everyone’s eyes will be on the inclusion of Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli, with the former set tomake hisreturn to the Indian team.
Selection committee to lift the lid
Led by Ajit Agarkar, the selection committee has beenkeeping a close eye onall the players and their performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).However, according to reports,it isthe merits of the playersthatwill determine their position in the team rather than their performances in the IPL 2024.According to reports, the selection committee will welcome back Pant in the Indian team after more than 18 monthshavingsuffered a near-fatal car accident in December 2022.

Virat Kohli will be another name who has been in the spotlight butis expectedto board the flight to the USA and the West Indies. Virat has played only three T20Is sincethe 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup andis currently in the running for the Orange Cap in IPL 2024. He also scored a hundred in the IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals. Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians is another name guaranteed to make the Indian squadhavingimpressed in the 2022 edition in Australia.
In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrahis guaranteedto be one of the pacerswhile YuzvendraChahal’s T20 form should see him make the squad. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s spin optionswhichcould likely keep Axar Patel out of thesquad.
