IPL 2024: WATCH | SRH batter Abhishek Sharma hits 27 in an over vs CSK, thanks Yuvraj Singh later

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma showed his power-hitting once again in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he took 27 runs ofan over against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 5. The 23-year-old hit CSK's Mukesh Chaudhary for three sixes and a four in the second over of the chase.
It started with a four before Sharma hit three sixes off Chaudhary and closed the over with a four again. Have a look at the over below:

Thanks to Sharma's hitting, SRH got to a flyer while chasing a modest 166. The score might have been a bit below par but CSK bowlers did make it hard for SRH dueto a slow and gripping pitch. It was Abhishek's innings of 37 in 12 balls which eventually proved helpful as SRH chased down the target in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand.

Speaking after match, Sharma shed light on SRH's strategy for the chase and said: "In the bowling we felt it was a slow wicket. So we wanted to take the powerplay on. We knew it will be slow but not if we take on the bowler. Because it would be difficult for the bowler as well."

The batter, who has already hit the fastest fifty for his team (off 18 balls) earlier in the season, also thanked former cricketers Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh for his development as a batter.

Abhishek has scored 161 runs in four matches this season so far at a whooping strike rate of 217 including 15 sixes and 12 fours and a highest score of 63.
