BGT 2024-25, Perth Test: India pacer Harshit Rana reveals Jasprit Bumrah's influence on debut performance

Harshit Rana revealed that Jasprit Bumrah's performance with the ball on day 1 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test charged everyone up after India were bowled out for 150 in the first innings in Perth. Harshit joined the part when he bowled a peach to dismiss Travis Head for his maiden Test wicket on day 1.
"When someone gives you a start like Jassi bhaiya did yesterday, it creates an atmosphere where everyone is very charged up. Everyone starts thinking 'If he is doing it, we will too'. So that was a big thing that they were three wickets down when I came on to bowl. And I thought that I should also get some wickets because the faster they are bowled out, the better for us," he said after the second day's play.
Bumrah took four wickets on Friday (Nov 22) as Australia ended the first day's play on 67/7. On day 2 (Saturday, Nov 23), Bumrah completed his five-for while Rana took the remaining wickets to finish with 3/48 as Australia were bowled out for 104 in the first innings - trailing behind by46-run lead.
Harshit was an interesting pick for India ahead of Akash Deep, who has been doing well as India's third seamer in Mohammed Shami's absence.
Rana, however, was grateful for the opportunity and dedicated his debut to his dad with a heartfelt post on the social media platform Instagram.

As for the match, India finished day 2 with a total lead of 218 runs after openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (90 not out) and KL Rahul (62 not out) added an unbeaten 172 runs for the opening wicket.
