Petrol prices in national capital continued to witness a slump on Thursday with petrol and diesel now being sold at Rs 75.57 per litre and Rs 78.37 per litre, respectively.

Compared to Wednesday, petrol and diesel prices witnessed a decrease of 40 paise and 60 paise.

In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol prices slipped to Rs 81.10 per litre, a decrease by 40 paise, while diesel saw a fall of Rs 57 paise and is now being reailed at Rs 74.34.

The rates of the fuel across India have been slashing due to the fall in the prices of crude oil.

The United States recently softened its stand on Iran's sanctions and given nod to eight oil countries to continue to import oil from Tehran temporarily. The list includes India, China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, global crude oil price also dipped on Thursday.

Benchmark Brent had fallen 10 cents to $63.32 a barrel by 1447 GMT, partially recovering from a more than $1 drop in early European trading. US WTI fell more than a $1 before easing back to trade down 28 cents at $54.35.
