A US Secret Service agent working for Vice President Kamala Harris displayed"distressing behaviour" at Joint Base Andrews andwas removed from duty, according to authorities.
“At approximately 9 a.m. April 22, a US Secret Service special agent supporting the VicePresident’s departurefrom Joint Base Andrews began displaying behavior their colleagues found distressing.The agent was removedfrom their assignment while medical personnel were summoned,”Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi told theWashington Examiner.
What did the agent do?
CBS reported that the agent in question pushed the special agent in charge and spoke incoherently near the lounge area of Joint Base Andrews.
Vice President Harris was at the Naval Observatorybutthe incident had"no impact on her departure from Joint Base Andrews."

“The Vice President was at the Naval Observatory when this incident occurredandthere was no impact on her departure from Joint Base Andrews. The US Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously. As this was a medical matter, we will not disclose any further details,”anofficial statement said.
Fellow Secret Service officers intervened, handcuffed the agent, and arrested him.
Following an initial assessment,the agent was admittedto the hospital.
According to CBS News, there were no indicators of substance abuse that could have influenced theagent'sbehaviour at the time.
Will the agent be able to return to duty?
The US Secret Service ispresentlyin a holding pattern while waiting for additional reports on theagent'scondition.
Followingadditionalmedical treatment and review,a judgment will be maderegarding theagent'seligibility to return to duty.
An internal review willbe heldto decideif the agent will get the security clearance.Currently, the situation isbeingtreatedas a medicalone,rather than a disciplinaryissue.
