Goldy Brar: Sidhu Moose Wala murder accused is alive, US police confirm to WION after reports of death

Indo-Candian gangster Goldy Brar, whowas earlier reportedto be a victim of a fatal shooting in California, is alive, theFresno County Sheriff Tony Botti confirmed to WION on Thursday (May 2). Botti said that the reports ofBrar'sdeath were fake news. The victims in the shooting was identified as37-year-old Xavier Gladney.
Brar is an India-designated terrorist and a suspect in the killing of Punjabi rapper and singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022.
Earlier, another police official told Indian news agency IANS that Brar was alive.“If you are inquiring because of the online chatter claiming that the shooting victim is‘Goldy Brar’,we can confirm that this is absolutely not true,”Lieutenant William J Dooley said.
“We have received inquiries from around the world this morningas a result ofmisinformationbeing spreadon social media and online news agencies. We are not sure who started this rumour, but it caught on and spread like wildfire. But again, itisn’ttrue. The victim is definitely not Goldy,”Lieutenant Dooley added.
Earlier, a section of Indian media reported that Brar had been shot dead in the US. According to a report by News 18, the gangster was gunned down Tuesday at around 5:30 pm local time in Fairmont and Holt Avenue, California.
Brar was standing outside his house when unidentified attackers opened fire at him and fled, the report had claimed.

All you need to know about Goldy Brar
Goldy Brar was born in the north Indian state of Punjab in 1994 in a family with a history in law enforcement.
He was declared a terrorist by the government of India following the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala on May 29, 2022.
India’s home ministry believed Brarwas also linkedto the Babbar Khalsa terrorist organisation, operational in Canada.
Brar was also among the 25 most wanted in Canadawhere he is accused of being involved in more than 50 murders.
Brar first went to Canada in 2017 on a student visa. Later, he permanently fled to Canada in 2021.
In Canada, Brar took over operations of gangsterLawrence Bishnoi, who is jailed in India.
These operations included contract killingand extortion rackets in India, among others.
In 2022, the Interpol issueda notice against him following which hereportedly moved to the United States.
Last year, Brar’s cousin, GurlalBrarwas killed outside a Chandigarh nightclub by unknown men.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang later claimed responsibility for theattack,and said they carried out the killing in vengeance for the death of Youth Congress leader Gurlal Pahalwan.
