United States (US) Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris shared a special message of thanks to her mother, Shyamala, ahead of the November 5 election in the country.
In a post on X, Harris said on Monday (Nov. 4), "My mother, DrShyamala Gopalan Harris, came to the United States from India at 19." Harris said that her mother taught her and her sister Maya about courage and determination.
The video message said that Shyamala's teachings made Kamala Harris a prosecutor, an attorney general, a senator, and the vice president of the country.

"In this moment, Kamala Harris has a new way forward. She says every worker should be able to provide with dignity. Every generation should do better than the last. Every American should be able to buy a home, start a business, and save enough to invest," the message added.
"It's time for a new generation of leadership—one of optimism and belief in a better future for all Americans," the message further said.
Harris' video message came as she and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumpcampaigned across Pennsylvania and other battleground states on Monday in the final, frantic day of the November 5 election.
Both candidates predicted their victory as they converged on Pennsylvania to urge supporters who have not yet cast their ballots to show up on Election Day.
This election is a tight race between Harris and Trump, with opinion polls showing that both the contenders are virtually even.
The winner may not be known for days after Tuesday's vote, though Trump has already signalled that he will attempt to fight any defeat, as he did in 2020.
