Moo Deng, the hippo

US election 2024: Looks like the viral Thai pygmy hippopotamus, Moo Deng has become the new Nostradamus of US polls, making predictions of the US presidential election 2024.

As the contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump looks tight ahead of November 5, people are turning to all kinds of crazy predictions. In one such attempt, the baby hippo also made a choice- between the Democrat and Republican candidates.

In a viral video, the internet's favouriteMoo Deng is called out of the water, with food as the bait. The baby hippo was given two options, in the form of two watermelons with US presidential election candidates’ names on each of the two. The hippo walks straight to the fruit basket, made using a watermelon shell, and chooses the Republican leader Donald Trump.

Take a look at the video.

The video that was recorded at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Thailand soon garnered a lot of views.

Interestingly, Moo Deng’s wild guess backs all the polls and betting. According to AtlasIntel’s latest poll, Donald Trump is leading the predictions, especially in all seven swing states.

About 49 per cent of the respondents said they would vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, the poll shows, as the Republicans hold a 1.8 per cent vote lead over his counterpart Democrat Kamala Harris.
Renowned economist Christophe Barraud, known as the “world's most accurate economist”, too has forecasted “Trump's victory”.

However, nothing concrete can be said as of now.

In contrast, a Reuters/Ipsos poll released last week showed Harris holding a narrow lead of just one percentage point over Trump, with 44 per cent to 43 per cent respectively, highlighting the intensely competitive nature of the campaign's final stretch.

As the US election enters into the last phase, the world watches to see whether this Thai pygmy hippo's forecast will prove accurate.
