In the Dubai Festival City Mall, a clothing brand store found itself embroiled in a heated controversy after a video of a live mannequinon display in the store went viral on social media.

The incident took placeat the Manto Bride store in the mall and came into the spotlight after the model herself was highlighted on social media.

The video of a live woman posing like a mannequin at the front facade of the store attracted mixed reactions but alsoleft many netizens fuming.

In the viral video, the model - who was identified as Angelina - was seen standing on a platform at the front side of the store wearing one of the gowns of the brand and stiletto heels.

The woman was changing her poses constantly and appeared to have blended with the mannequins in a way that it appeared she was no different from them. This kind of rare display did catch the attention of many passers-by.

Sharing this unique modelling experience, Angelina posted her videos on both Instagram and TikTok.

The video immediately got traction on social media and different Instagram pages also reposted it.

A well-known account @lovindubai also reposted it with the caption, "Legends say she's still striking poses to this day."

However, not all responses were the same, some were even bitter and made it appear that the marketing strategy may turn into a nightmare for the store.

Netizens express their anger over live human mannequin

The netizens were not very pleased to see a woman turn into a mannequin and said that it was "very downgrading and tasteless".Some even called it "modern world slavery".

On social media platform Instagram, user Shruti Chadha wrote "This is inhuman. I’m sure her feet hurt like crazy and when we have regular dummies why do we even need this?”

"This is slavery," said another user.

However, public figure Ghazi Al Yaman appreciated the initiative, and said, “Next level marketing. Nice one.”

This sentiment was echoed by another user, Vlada Bulhakova, who remarked, “Someone has a lot of money for marketing."

However, another user shared a more nuanced perspective: “Everyone saying this is slavery, inhuman, uncomfortable. Just like everyone else, we all have our own discomfort at work, we all get some pain whether it’s on foot, back, hands whatever. She’s getting paid just like we get, plus think about the security guards in the malls, they stand all the time too. We all are struggling and that's what makes us strong."
