The enmity between snakes and mongooses has been known for centuries, and their fights have remained popular among people but are rarely seen.

However, a rare and dramatic battle between three mongooses and a snake was captured at Patna Airport's runway and went viral as soon as it was posted on social media.

The intense fight between the animals left the onlookers shocked. First, the mongoose and snake appeared to have a one-on-one confrontation.

However, as the video continued playing two more mongooses joined the battle which grew intense and turned into a three-on-one struggle.

The snake was seen trying to defend itself by raising its head, however, the mongooses continued their attack.

Mongooses and snakes have existed as natural enemies for centuries because of their evolutionary history.

A major reason for their hatred is predation as snakes are known to prey on mongooses as well as their young and mongooses have hunted and eaten snakes.

The viral video of the snake and mongoose was widely circulated on social media and left users amused. “Competitive tussle between IndiGo and Spicejet crew," wrote a user.

“Bridge in the middle of the field, a teacher sleeping in the classroom with children fanning her and now mongoose and snake fighting in the middle of the airport," commented another user.

“Their ongoing family issues,and the snake finally decided to settle outside India," said the user, while hinting at Bollywood movie Nagina.
