Instagram, Facebook down for thousands of users globally
Instagram, Facebook down.
Meta's Facebook and Instagram applications were down for thousands of users worldwide on Wednesday (May15), according to outage tracking website Downdetector.
Earlier in March this year, Meta experienced a technical issue that resulted in login disruptions for a significant number of Facebook and Instagram users.
According to the Downdetector data, there were over 18,000 reports of users facing problems with accessing the Instagram application.
Around 59 per cent of users faced issues in accessing the Instagram app, while 34 per cent faced server connection issues and seven per cent were not able to log in.
The website collates status reports from several sources, including users.

The internet monitoring group NetBlocks also shared a post on X informing that the two social media websites were currently experiencing ‘international outages’.

Several users took to X to share the issues they were facing with Facebook and Instagram.
Some users encountered a message saying "Something went wrong. There's an issue and the page could not be loaded," while others saw an "error loading media" message.
Netizens reacted to Instagram and Facebook outage
One user wrote, “anyone else's instagram and facebook playing silly buggers? down detector has them both playing up.”
Another one said, “Instagram is down and it’s not working properly. Apparently Facebook is down, but I’m not having any issues with it. I hope they fix it soon. #instagramisdown.”
