India's Gautam Adani, the founder and owner of the Adani Group conglomerate, is projected to become a trillionaire by the end of the decade, according to a report by Dubai-based Informa Connect Academy.

Currently worth $84 billion, the report claims that Adani is averaging a growth rate of 122.86 per cent per year, which may make him a trillionaire by 2028, just behind Elon Musk. 

Headquartered in India, the Adani Group majorly dabbles in business activities related to power generation, transmission and distribution, ports and terminals, agriculture and general logistics, industrial parks, defence and aerospace incubation, road and rail networks as well as farming, and food manufacturing among other avenues.

Currently, there are 11 Adani Group companies listed in the Indian markets and barring New Delhi Television (NDTV) - the mutual fund managers in the country have parked investor's money in every single one of those companies. According to reports as much as $4.98 billion (Rs 41,814 crore) worth of investments have been made by mutual funds in these companies.

Elon Musk - world's first trillionaire

The report added that Musk will be the first trillionaire in the planet's history -- reaching the milestone in 2027. 

"With a net worth of $195 B, growing at an average rate of 109.88 per cent every year, Elon Musk is the clear favourite to become the first trillionaire by 2027," the report said. 

Musk became a billionaire in 2012 and has been crowned the world's richest person in recent years, competing with the likes of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and French businessman Bernard Arnault.

Musk's Tesla is one of the world's most valuable companies in terms of market capitalisation. Meanwhile, SpaceX has also delivered sweet returns with the company expected to grow to $15 billion this year from $4.7 billion a year ago.
