After seeing his owner in trouble, Blue ran fourmiles back to the campsite to seek help for Garrett. After Blue reached the campsite, Garrett's family and friends were certain that something was wrong.

They began the search operation on the night of June 2, 2024. The next morning his brother, Tyree Garrett located his truck in the ravine and called for help.

Considering the fact that it had been raining all night, Tyree was not certain if his brother would have survived. He called out his brother's name, but there was no response which made him more apprehensive.
