Team India will go through over a quarter of a year in England, as they play a five-match Test series against England after the World Test Championship last with New Zealand. The ICC Test Championship last starts off on June 18 in Southampton, while the Test series will start on August 4.

Addressing ANI, a BCCI official in the apprehension of Team India's movement courses of action said about the forthcoming England task.
“You can expect the boys to come into the bubble on May 25, as it will be an 8-day quarantine period which will not involve just testing against COVID-19, but also there will not be any movement as the boys prepare for the UK schedule. Once in the UK on June 2, the boys will go for another 10-day quarantine. But this time the cricketers can train, as they'll be moving in a charter plane from a bubble in India to a bubble in England. A bubble-to-bubble move lets them train even though there will be continuous testing at all times and no further movement,” the official explained.

With over a month's break between the apocalypse Test Championship last and the beginning of the England Test series, Team India will remain back in England to get adjusted to the conditions. The BCCI official affirmed that players would be permitted to go with their families for the long visit.

“Not just the duration of the tour, the COVID-19 restrictions also mean you cannot move around the place. There will be more than a month’s gap between the Test Championship Final and the opening Test against England at Trent Bridge from August 4. The players will have their families traveling with them,” the BCCI official confirmed.

With the Indian government opening up immunizations for everybody over 18 on May 1, all individuals from the Indian cricket squad are qualified to make their efforts. Shikhar Dhawan as of late got one of the primary dynamic Indian players to get immunized. The BCCI has affirmed that plans are in progress to inoculate every one of the players as quickly as time permits.

“The Indian government has opened vaccination for every person above 18, so the players can take their first dose. But the second dose is the question here. The BCCI is looking at working closely with England and Wales Cricket Board to ensure players can get a second dose in the UK. If that is not approved by the UK government, we will have the vaccine taken from India for the second dose. Let’s see how that works out in the coming days,” the official stated.

Team India will hope to turn into the debut World Test Championship victors when they take on New Zealand one month from now. From that point forward, Virat Kohli's men will direct their concentration toward the marquee England series and desire to charge better compared to what they did last time; Team India lost 1-4 in the 2018 series.

Warner was struck by the injury during the second ODI match against India and was ruled out of the first two matches of the four-match Test series last November. However, Warner was brought back to playing XI for the third match when the series was levelled at 1-1.

"It put me back a little bit. Looking back in hindsight, I probably wouldn't have done that. If I'm thinking about myself and the injury, I probably would have said no. I've had this time to heal and obviously with South Africa being called off, it gave me a bit more time to get that strength work done," Warner was quoted as saying by AAP.

Warner was visibly in discomfort during the third and fourth match and struggled to run between the wickets. The Aussie opener scored 5, 13, 1 and 48 in the remaining two matches.

However, the 34-year-old still remains one of the best batsmen in the Australian lineup and could play a key role in the upcoming T20 world cups (back-to-back tournaments). He will also be a part of the 2023 World Cup in India.

"We've got a good opportunity to play that (2023 World Cup) and win in India. The core team there, with the age group as well, it's probably going to be the last for a few of us. Then obviously it's a given you just have to call it time unless you're going to play until you are 41. From a Test cricket point of view, I'd love to play as long as I can," he said.

Australian skipper Tim Paine on Friday said that India is a proud cricketing nation and will not roll over in the Boxing Day Test like they did in Adelaide. According to Paine, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be potential threats in the second Test match.

India will be starting afresh in the second Test match after witnessing a mammoth collapse in the series-opener in Adelaide.

“Well, we can’t pay any attention to mental scars or whatever thing they’re talking about,” the skipper, who was named Man of the Match in the first Test, said during a virtual press conference.

“We know India is a proud cricket country, an extremely talented Test match side with lots of dangerous players.” Paine, who has led Australia in 20 Tests so far, recalled the Ashes last year when England bounced back in the fifth Test to level the series after being 1-2 down.

“We saw in England that we can come unstuck pretty quickly... the moment we take our foot off the pedal and think we’re going all right.

“A huge focus of ours since that fifth Test since the Ashes has been winning after winning. But we’ve been fantastic in how we’ve prepared for this game.” With their talismanic captain Virat Kohli (paternity leave) and pacer Mohammed Shami (injured) not available, India are set to make as many as five changes.

“We know that some of the players they’re talking about coming into their side like KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant are all dangerous players who want to take the game on by playing positively.

“If we give them an inch, they will take a mile. So we got to be bang on the mark tomorrow as we were in Adelaide, and prepare to turn up for another five-day battle.

“We know that we won the first Test well but it was only at stumps on day two, we were in a serious fight, so that’s the attitude we’re taking into the next Test.” The skipper is aware of the fact that living in a bio-secure bubble for the tourists can be harsh, especially when they are 0-1 down after a heavy defeat.

“Living in a hub or a bubble, it is certainly easier when you are playing well, there is no doubt about that but the flip side to that is, you are really close, you are really tight-knit and you are always around each other.

“It can go both ways. We have been on overseas tours before to India or South Africa and we were bowled out for 50. It can be really difficult, so, that’s why it is so important for us to turn up with the attitude that we turned up with in the first Test.

“We know they are not going to roll over... We are going to have to work our backsides off to get them in a position like we did in Adelaide.

“If we can do it again, then Tests three and four can become a real battle for them. But, first, we have got to start well and put them back under the pump.”

According to Srikkanth, the hosts will ‘come out and fight.’

“But I’m sure they’ll come out and fight. Everybody [in India] is disappointed, but then everyone has taken the view [to look at it] as a bad dream,” he added.

India committed several mistakes during the first match in Adelaide, especially with the bat and fielding. Virat and Co. dropped some vital catches that could change the course of the match.

In the second innings, Team India were heavily let down by their batting as they were all out for 36 runs. Former Aussie wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist feels India need to address their batting woes, starting with opener Prithvi Shaw.

“In both innings, Prithvi Shaw’s early dismissal put the team on the back foot. Shaw was part of the team during the last India series here, and there has been plenty of hype and build-up around the youngster. This has also meant that his technique has been scrutinised and there was a clear plan to exploit the gap between his bat and pad that is a matter of concern for the youngster,” Gilchrist wrote in his column for Mid-Day.

Shaw disappointed in both innings as he was out on a duck in the first and was removed for just four runs in the second. He was bowled both the times. “Shaw has also been prone to expansive shots which might backfire in Australian conditions because he will be liable to edging one to gully. While he is a talented youngster, his performance will put the selectors in a dilemma as they plan for the Boxing Day Test,” he added.

Gilchrist also added that Pujara was too defensive in the first innings. Pujara scored 43 off 160 balls with two fours at a strike-rate of 26.88.

“Looking back at the first innings, I would think that the seemingly slow batting from Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli was, in fact superb defensive batting. That was what India failed to replicate in the second innings,” Gilchrist wrote.

“In the first innings it had seemed that India were not looking for scoring opportunities, but Kohli’s masterclass of concentration alongside Pujara and later Ajinkya Rahane is what ensured that India reached 244.”

The bowler also commented on India's collapse during Day 3 of the first day-night Test in Adelaide despite taking a lead of 62 runs by the end of Day 2. It took the hosts only 21 overs to chase 90 runs to win the first Test by 8 wickets.

“India had to start well. They needed to get a win on the board, but unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. It was an unbelievable bowling performance by Australia,” said McGrath in the post-match show on Sony Sports Network.

“Virat Kohli is such an impact player. Without him, it leaves a big hole but at the same time it leaves an opportunity to other players to put their hand up,” McGrath said.
McGrath suggested another change in the opening slot of the Indian batting order. “The other option India have is Shubman Gill, who actually came out looking positive in one-day series, he didn’t seemed to be overawed by the stage, that to me would be one potential change at the top,” McGrath added.

Prithvi Shaw's form has been a worry for the Men in Blue, former Aussie said: “They need to know internally how he’s going. The captain, the coaches, the support staff will have to know that. The thing that I’m worried about is that he got out in the same way in two innings. That is a concern against bowlers like Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc. They gonna come at you always. The internal people will know it.”

Rajeev Shukla`s candidature for the post of the Indian cricket board`s vice-president was on Friday declared valid, along with those of Brijesh Patel and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, who would continue as councillors after nominations were also declared valid.

Earlier, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley, whose late father Arun Jaitley and Shukla famously got along well despite having different political affiliations, proposed the name of the former Indian Premier League governing council chairman for the post.

Election for only three vacant posts was scheduled to be held during the December 24 AGM of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, now that there would be no contest, all have been effectively elected, barring a formal announcement from Achal Kumar Joti, Electoral Officer of the BCCI. Although candidates could withdraw their nominations on Saturday, that wouldn`t be required now.

The post of vice-president fell vacant after Mahim Verma quit the post and returned to his home state, Uttarakhand where he was elected as secretary of the state`s association once again. The term of the two councillors was one year and election was due for these posts.

As per the timeline announced by Joti, a former Chief Election Commissioner of India, a formal announcement of a list of contesting candidates would be made on Saturday, and that would effectively be the declaration of the results, which were originally to be declared during the AGM, in case of a contest(s).

Shukla, also a former secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), was disqualified from voting at the BCCI AGM last year after the then Electoral Officer found him to have not completed his three-year cooling-off period. He was, however, never required to vote at the AGM as all office-bearers were elected unopposed after four groups within the BCCI joined hands to avoid contests, and see off the rule of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators.

Rohan Jaitley, who was elected president of the DDCA last month, proposed the name of Shukla, a Director in UPCA, and Verma, secretary of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), seconded it. It is widely believed that Shukla controls CAU.

Interestingly, Shukla is a member of the Congress party while the Jaitley family`s affiliation is with the BJP, and two parties are ideologically poles apart. But, historically, party lines blur seamlessly when politicians share the platform at the BCCI or at its affiliated state associations.

The name of Patel, representing the Karnataka State Cricket Association, was proposed by RS Ramasaamy, secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, and seconded by Adv. Shreejith V. Nair, secretary of the Kerala Cricket Association.

Avishek Dalmiya, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, proposed the name of Majumdar of the Cricket Association of Mizoram, Sanjay M. Naik of the Mumbai Cricket Association seconded it.
