Former India captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth says Virat Kohli side's are having a demoralising effect on their World Cup opponents. India beat Pakistan by 89 runs via DLS method in Manchester on Sunday to extend their blistering start to the World Cup. Two-time champions India, among the favourites to lift the World Cup along with England and Australia, have three wins and a no result from their four matches and look set for a semi-final place. Srikkanth has been impressed by India's form and claims their powerful displays are torturing opponents in the same way the great West Indies' team of the 1970s used to have teams beaten mentally before the match even started. "It is a little like England, at the moment everything seems to be going right (for India) and the fans should be very happy," Srikkanth said. "This is starting to feel a little like the West Indian teams of the 1970s, where the opposition would start the game with a psychological disadvantage. "Teams are worried about facing India and how they will cope with them, which immediately puts them on the back foot." Kapil Dev's India shocked the West Indies in the 1983 World Cup final to be crowned champions at Lord's -- a moment that revolutionised Indian cricket. India underlined their current class against Pakistan on Sunday, with opener Rohit Sharma leading the charge with 140 in their total of 336-5. 'Responsible Rahul' Pakistan could only manage 212-6 while chasing a revised target of 302 in 40 overs to go down without a fight. The latest update is that Dhawan has gone to Leeds for further assessment and he is being assessed by the Indian team's physio Patrick Farhart and that an update will be provided in some time, published the CricketCountry website. The 33-year-old will miss the next two matches against New Zealand and Pakistan but an official word from India's cricket board is still awaited. In the absence of Dhawan, KL Rahul, who is India's back-up opener, might open the innings with Rohit Sharma and either Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar will get a chance to play at number four spot. Dhawan underwent precautionary tests and scans following which the decision was made ahead of India's next game against New Zealand at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

World Cup: Shikhar Dhawan ruled out for three weeks due to injury

<p>Opener Shikhar Dhawan hit a blazing century and his 127-run opening stand with Rohit Sharma helped India to post 352 for five after captain Virat Kohli won the toss.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While chasing the massive target, Australia were all-out for 316 runs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the post-match presentation, Virat said, "A top, top win for us especially after losing that series in India. We had a point to prove against this side."</p>

<p>"We came here with intent right from ball one. The opening partnership was outstanding. I got a few runs, Hardik the way he played. It was a brilliant start with the ball on a wicket that was quite flat," added Kohli after India's second win of this tournament from as many games played.&nbsp;</p>

<p>That always pleases you as a captain. You have to bowl well. You can't take things for granted just because you have 350+ on the board. That 30 runs gives you the luxury.&nbsp;</p>

Yuvraj Singh: A journey of ups and downs

<p>In both cases, the ICC cited equipment regulation violation.</p>

<p>Indian skipper <a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=virat+kohli">Virat Kohli</a> has made a witty remark on his bowling skills, saying that no one in the team takes his bowling seriously except himself.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a recent practice session, Kohli was seen bowling in the nets ahead of India's World Cup campaign opener against South Africa on June 5.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kohli also explained why his teammates do not believe in his bowling and why he has not bowled in international cricket since December 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During an interview, he said, "It was the during the ODI series in Sri Lanka (in 2017) where we had almost won everything, I asked MS (Dhoni) if I could bowl. Just when I was getting ready to roll my arm over, Bumrah (Jasprit) shouted from the boundary and said 'no joking around, it is an international game'."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"No one in the team believes in my bowling but I do," he added.&nbsp;</p>
