Quite a lot has transpired for quarterback Trey Lance in the past few days. Just&nbsp;a&nbsp;day after learning that he had lost out on the San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback job, the 23-year-old&nbsp;Lance was seen back at the team facility on Thursday (August 24).

Shedding light on the whole matter, Niners general manager John Lynch said that he expects Lance to stay put barring a surprise. While speaking to KNBR radio in San Francisco on Thursday morning, Lynch admitted that the Niners are exploring all options -- including a trade -- for Lance but there remains a strong possibility of him retaining his place as the third quarterback in the upcoming new season.&nbsp;

Lynch said, "That's the most likely option. We're very happy with Trey. The most likely option is that he's here. If we can find a landing spot for Trey that is a really good one for him and works for our organization, that's not something that we'd turn a blind eye to. But that's not where our focus is right now. Our focus is on Trey getting back here and us being the best football team. We're getting close to Pittsburgh [in Week 1]."

Lynch has, however, not given a clear answer&nbsp;when asked if Lance himself requested a trade. He just added that it was a "gut punch" for the youngster.

The 51-year-old added, "Trey handled it incredibly well, with class. He was devastated, and rightly so. NFL: San Francisco 49ers manager says QB Trey Lance 'most likely' to remain with Niners

Veteran Running back&nbsp;Ezekiel Elliott recently got roped in by the New England Patriots. The experienced campaigner is cherishing his time at his new franchise and feels 'at home'.&nbsp; "I think if you look at my play style and the culture of this team, it's a good match. I think I'm a good fit," the 28-year-old said on&nbsp; Wednesday (August 23). "I was at home for a long time, so I thought I definitely should come in and be kind of an energizer boost. The transition has been good. I've been getting along with the team. Love the coaches, love the atmosphere and love this program. Just having fun." he further opined.

Elliott brushed aside all outside noise and said: "I don't think any outside entity could put more pressure on me than any pressure I have for myself. So, it's not really to go out and prove anything to anyone but just go out there and show what kind of player I am."

It is to be noted that the Patriots officially announced Elliott's signing on August&nbsp;16 on a one-year deal. As part of coach Bill Belichick's preference to limit hype, he was not made available to speak with the reporters until a week later. The 28-year-old player was all praise for his new coach&nbsp;Belichick and labelled him as a "great coach" and "funny guy" on Wednesday. He went on to add that he "demands excellence of his team and knows how to get it out of it."

Teammate Adrian Phillips opined on Elliott's transition over the past week and highlighted, "He looks good. You can tell he's a guy that's hungry, and motivated, and wants to prove he's still Zeke. I think he is, and it's been fun to have him.

"He wants to come in and learn what the culture is here. He hasn't tried to step on anyone's toes -- the first thing he did was come in and say, 'What's up?' to everybody' -- and wants to get to know everybody. He's a cool guy," he added.

At present, it looks like Elliott has fitted really well into the scheme of things of his new team. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the upcoming weeks.&nbsp;

NFL: 'I'm a good fit' - Running back Ezekiel Elliott feels at home with New England Patriots

In another fight during the NFL preseason combined practice, the joint session between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts ended after a sideline clearing brawl. The fight started when Eagles center Jason Kelce blindsided Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin at the end of a play, making him fall on the ground.&nbsp;

Kelce did so after taking offence with Franklin getting extra physical with Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell. Kelce, however, apologised after the session was cut short.

"We try and keep things civil on the field, and I pride myself on being a guy that sustains the emotions and level of play out there, and I let my emotions get the better of me," Kelce said. "That certainly doesn't belong out there on the field, and a little ashamed that it got to that level."

The Eagles center also added that he didn't meet the Colts LB after that game as 'tensions are a little bit too high for that right now.'

Speaking on the melee, Franklin, clearly not very amused with it, said that sometimes 'people get offended - that's life.'

"When you have joint practices against other organizations, sometimes your speed ain't their speed," said Franklin. "People get offended -- that's life."

I thought the OGs would at least look me in the eye before [hitting me], but it's all good. I might get a chance to look him in the eye Thursday, so we're going to be OK."

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, however, was not amused with the session being cut short because of the fight

"It's a competitive game, and I love the competition of it," he said. "This is what I get paid to do -- to play football, so I wanted to practice."

NFL: Eagles center Jason Kelce apologises for starting melee with 'cheap shot' against Colts in joint practice

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has been granted permission by the franchise to seek another team. The development was reported by ESPN citing sources. The Colts, however, will be looking for a significant deal for Taylor, ESPN reported citing sources.

The deal, which the Colts are looking at to trade the RB, should include a first round pick or multiple picks to equal the one, sources told ESPN.

Taylor, notably, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is looking for a long-term extension. His demand for long-term deal has, however, been struck down by Colts owner Jim Isray.

The drama started three weeks ago when Taylor joined the training camp on July 25, seeking a long term deal. Owner Isary's comments in which he told ESPN that the franchise has not made any offer to the RB, irked Taylor, sources told ESPN. The 24-year-old also failed his pre-camp medical after reporting issues in his surgically mended right ankle.

He subsequently was put on 'physically unable to perform' list and continues to stay there. He also has not practiced with the squad since being put on the injured reserve list in December last year.

The 2020 round 2 pick in NFL draft has been a mainstay of the Colts ever since his debut with them in 2020 season. He played 15 games in his rookie year, rushing for 1,169 yards in 232 carries and adding 11 touchdowns as well. In 2021, he upped his game one notch with 1,869 yards in 332 carries in 17 games. He topped the performance with 18 touchdowns as well &nbsp;- both a franchise record for the Colts.

In last season, the RB could play only in 11 games, racking in 861 yards in 192 carrier with just four touchdowns. Overall, the three-year veteran RB has 3,841 rushing yards to his name in 756 carries, averaging 5.1 yards per carry along with 33 touchdowns.

NFL: Fans get into brutal brawl during 49ers-Broncos preseason game - WATCH

Aaron Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets early this year, is set to make his debut for his side in the preseason finale against the New York Giants, as per a source. The 39-year-old&nbsp;has participated in every training camp practice. However, he has not managed a look-in yet as&nbsp;he watched proceedings&nbsp;from the sideline as backup Zach Wilson started the first three games. The four-time MVP will get a quick tuneup before the Jets' face-off versus Buffalo Bills, on September 11, in the&nbsp;season opener on "Monday Night Football."

The development does not come as a huge surprise as&nbsp;coach Robert Saleh hinted at the start of the preseason that playing Rodgers against the Giants was a possibility. "I wouldn't mind playing in the preseason," Rodgers said recently. "I wouldn't mind if Robert said, 'Hey, we are going to go. Let's do it.'"

After a&nbsp;quarter of preseason action, rookie&nbsp;Anthony Richardson has cemented himself&nbsp;as the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback. Thus, the 21-year-old will&nbsp;be the Colts' starter this season, announced coach Shane Steichen on Tuesday (August 15). The new development has taken Richardson by&nbsp;surprise but he is now ready for the challenge.

Steichen said, "Anthony's just been progressing. The growth he's shown, then, obviously, going into Buffalo, playing against a lot of their starters, he showed great signs of improvement. I like the things he did, and it's an opportunity now for him to get a lot more with the [starters] moving forward, and we go from there."

Regarding the new development, the youngster Richardson said, "Still got to work for it despite being granted the opportunity. Still got to work for it because nothing's handed to you. Got to earn everything."

"You work for it, [but] you didn't know when the timeline was going to be.&nbsp;I was just looking forward to Week 1 and just being ready for the opportunity and getting thrown in the fire hopefully. But then he told me, and I'm like, 'Wow, it really happened.' So, I'm thankful, I'm blessed, and now, you've got to keep building on this opportunity," stated the Colts' star.

Richardson further added, "I want to be great. I want to be remembered. I don't want to just be one of those guys like, 'Well, he was in the league.' I want my legacy to be remembered forever."

It is to be noted that Richardson was competing with veteran&nbsp;Gardner Minshew but now that a final call has been taken on the starter, the latter is&nbsp;disappointed but had words of praise for Richardson.

"This is his franchise," Minshew said of Richardson. "That's the reason they picked him where he is. And he's going to be really special," he stated.

New Orleans Saints have been dealt with another injury blow. Rookie running back Kendre Miller left Sunday's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs midway after suffering&nbsp;a knee injury, potentially acting as a huge blow to the&nbsp;team's thinning depth.

After Miller's latest injury blow, Saints coach Dennis Allen said he sprained a knee and will undergo further testing. In addition, Allen&nbsp;believes&nbsp;the injury is to the right knee, the same one Miller injured during the Fiesta Bowl in&nbsp;December 2022. It is to be noted that the injury kept Miller off the field until the beginning of training camp as he rehabbed during OTAs.

Probelems aplenty

The Saints are already grappling with injury concerns. With Miller, they&nbsp;will be shorthanded to kick off the forthcoming season unless&nbsp;they don't add&nbsp;another running to their roster. Starting running back Alvin Kamara will also be out of action for&nbsp;the first three games as the 28-year-old is serving a suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. While Jamaal Williams is set to&nbsp;start in&nbsp;place of Kamara, Miller&nbsp;would have served as an&nbsp;immediate backup during the latter's ban.&nbsp;

At present, Saints only have&nbsp;Rookie Ellis Merriweather on whom they can rely on. He comprised&nbsp;nine carries for 24 yards and caught two passes for 17 yards, including a 2-yard reception for a touchdown with 1:25 left during Sunday's face-off.

After the contest, Allen opined, "I thought he got in there and ran the ball pretty well. I&nbsp;thought he ran the ball really physically. He had a really nice run that got called back ... but it was a good run."

NFL: Another big blow to New Orleans Saints with knee injury to Kendre Miller

In Buffalo Bills' preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, the former edged past the Colts&nbsp;23-19 victory on Saturday (August 12). The game made heads turn as it&nbsp;marked the 25-year-old Damar Hamlin's first-ever appearance&nbsp;after suffering cardiac arrest -- during a regular-season face-off versus&nbsp;the Cincinnati Bengals -- early this year, on January&nbsp;02.

After the game, Hamlin opened up on being nervous ahead of his comeback trail and claimed that&nbsp;his first hit&nbsp;took a little weight off his shoulders.

<h2>'I really love this.&nbsp;I want to be one of the greats'</h2>

Hamlin said, whose first play back was a kickoff, "When I'm feeling those nerves and I'm feeling those emotions, it just means I, it means I love, I really love this. I love this, like, I want to be here. I want to play, I want to do good. I want to be one of the greats. I want to be remembered as somebody who, you know, stood for something and who made a difference when I was out there on the field."

The comeback wasn't an easy affair for Hamlin. He claimed that he had to manage his emotions prior to the game and put in the extra yards during preparations, including extra tackling, however, he was fully focused while being&nbsp;on the field and played without hesitation. The game made heads turn as it marked the 25-year-old Damar Hamlin's first-ever appearance after suffering cardiac arrest -- during a regular-season face-off versus the Cincinnati Bengals -- early this year, on January 02. After the game, Hamlin opened up on being nervous ahead of his comeback trail and claimed that his first hit took a little weight off his shoulders. 'I really love this. I want to be one of the greats' Hamlin said, whose first play back was a kickoff, "When I'm feeling those nerves and I'm feeling those emotions, it just means I, it means I love, I really love this. I love this, like, I want to be here. I want to play, I want to do good. I want to be one of the greats. I want to be remembered as somebody who, you know, stood for something and who made a difference when I was out there on the field." The comeback wasn't an easy affair for Hamlin. He claimed that he had to manage his emotions prior to the game and put in the extra yards during preparations, including extra tackling, however, he was fully focused while being on the field and played without hesitation. "You put yourself at risk by hesitating," he opined. In addition, the youngster revealed that he was feeling the emotions of his return during the day, but had trustworthy people around him to help his mindset and keep himself calm and composed. NFL: Damar Hamlin battles nerves in Bills' win over Colts as he returns post cardiac arrest

Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals had a joint-practice session where&nbsp;Packers left guard Elgton Jenkins got involved in two brawls. The first time, it was Jenkins who got shoved to the ground by Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt during a run by Aaron Jones.&nbsp;This led to the Packers pulling&nbsp;Jenkins from the rest of that drill, however,&nbsp;in the next competitive period he returned and went after Bengals defensive tackle DJ Reader. He appeared to take a swing at him away from the play as well.

Jenkins paid the price for this and was escorted off the field by a staff member of the Packers.&nbsp;"Man, he's a jag, man," Reader said after the whole episode.

"I don't know that guy. No idea who he is. I mean, I see he made two Pro Bowls, so good for him, but he blocked for Aaron Rodgers. That don't make you nobody," he stated.

NFL: Packers Elgton Jenkins receives send-off after brawls with Bengals during combined practice

Washington Commanders recently roped in Eric Bieniemy as the new&nbsp;offensive coordinator and he has also taken over as the assistant head coach. However, coach&nbsp;Ron Rivera has claimed that some players are having issues coping with Bieniemy's intensity during practice sessions. When asked to comment on this, Bieniemy has ruled out any changes in his methods and remains adamant about not altering his approach.&nbsp;

"I'm always going to be loud, always going to be vocal, always going to demand from my leaders," Bieniemy said after the practice, adding he is aware of what would happen if he altered his belief. "If I ain't doing my job, my ass gets fired. It's my job and my responsibility to make sure I'm getting our guys to do what I'm expecting them to do," the assistant coach opined.

Bieniemy further said, "I want our guys to clearly understand we don't take anything for granted. You see me pull players and have long discussions with them so we're always on the same page. Eric Bieniemy is who he is. Eric Bieniemy knows how to adapt and adjust. Eric Bieniemy is a tough, hard-nosed coach, but also understand I'm going to be the biggest and harshest critic but also their No. 1 fan. I got their back ... all the time."

Meanwhile, Rivera said, "I had a number of guys come to me and I said, 'Hey, just go talk to him.' I said, 'Understand what he's trying to get across to you,'" Rivera said. "As they go and they talk and they listen to him, it's been enlightening for a lot of these guys. I mean, it's a whole different approach."

Rivera believes that the&nbsp;issue has mainly come out in the open as young players have not dealt with coaches with similar intensity.&nbsp; "As a coach, I have to assimilate and get a feel for everybody," Rivera said. "Eric has an approach and it's the way he does things and it's not going to change because he believes in it. [Defensive coordinator] Jack [Del Rio] has his approach. Having been a head coach, I think Jack has a tendency to try to figure guys out a little bit more as opposed to, 'Hey, this is it, this is the way it's going to be,' that type of stuff. Eric hasn't had that experience yet," he concluded.

NFL: QB Teddy Bridgewater heading to Detroit Lions

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick&nbsp;returned&nbsp;to the training camp, on Saturday (August 05),&nbsp;after excused absences due to personal matter. Following his return, Fitzpatrick stated that he is grateful to return&nbsp;and feels 'good to get back' to the game he has been in love with for a while and anticipates being with the Steelers for the remainder of the camp.

As quoted by ESPN, Fitzpatrick said, "Honestly, when you're away from the game that you love for a while, it's always good to get back to it, even if it's just a few days. You definitely kind of realize how much you love the game, how much you care about the game, but obviously you want to be there for family and for your people, but it's good to be back."

Not much is still known about Fitzpatrick's excused absences due to personal reasons. However, he acknowledged his coach&nbsp;Mike Tomlin for granting him&nbsp;a leave to be with his family.&nbsp;

"I said two words to him, and he knew what it was when I had to leave. And he told me go, you know what I'm saying? He said, 'Go be there for your family. Go do what you got to do.' And it wasn't an issue at all. They were making sure I was good every day. You definitely appreciate a coach and a program that takes care of family," he stated.

Meanwhile,&nbsp;Tomlin said, "He's back, and in a short period of time, you'll see him up and running in full capacity, I'm sure."

During Fitzpatrick's absence, Damontae Kazee sustained an ankle injury, which has put Steelers in a spot of bother. They are now without their top safeties, also including Keanu Neal, recently, suffered an undisclosed injury.

With the likes of Kazee, Fitzpatrick and Neal&nbsp;out of action, Kenny Robinson, Tre Norwood and Miles Killebrew gained in their absence with more reps. In this regard, the 26-year-old Fitzpatrick opined,&nbsp;"They got a lot of reps in this week. I feel kind of bad how many reps they got. I'll try and help 'em out next week as best as I can, but I think it's great for them. They don't really get to work together a lot. ... They got good looks with the ones (first team)."

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick returned to the training camp, on Saturday (August 05), after excused absences due to personal matter. Following his return, Fitzpatrick stated that he is grateful to return and feels 'good to get back' to the game he has been in love with for a while and anticipates being with the Steelers for the remainder of the camp. As quoted by ESPN, Fitzpatrick said, "Honestly, when you're away from the game that you love for a while, it's always good to get back to it, even if it's just a few days. You definitely kind of realize how much you love the game, how much you care about the game, but obviously you want to be there for family and for your people, but it's good to be back." Not much is still known about Fitzpatrick's excused absences due to personal reasons. However, he acknowledged his coach Mike Tomlin for granting him a leave to be with his family. During Fitzpatrick's absence, Damontae Kazee sustained an ankle injury, which has put Steelers in a spot of bother. They are now without their top safeties, also including Keanu Neal, recently, suffered an undisclosed injury. With the likes of Kazee, Fitzpatrick and Neal out of action, Kenny Robinson, Tre Norwood and Miles Killebrew gained in their absence with more reps. In this regard, the 26-year-old Fitzpatrick opined, "They got a lot of reps in this week. I feel kind of bad how many reps they got. I'll try and help 'em out next week as best as I can, but I think it's great for them. They don't really get to work together a lot. ... They got good looks with the ones (first team)." NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick returns to training after excused absences for personal reason

The Super Bowl LVII runner-ups Philadelphia Eagles have signed two veteran linebackers in an attempt to strengthen their defensive depth chart. Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham have been signed to one-year deals, announced the Eagles on Sunday.

Philadelphia have five linebackers as of now without the two new signings with Nakobe Dean and Nicholas Morrow expected to be starters. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had said last month that the franchise would be keeping its linebacker options open.

Talking about the players, Jack spent six years with the Jacksonville Jaguars before spending a year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jack, a round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, has been sensational in the last three years, amassing more than 100 total tackles each in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Jack's only season with the Steelers saw him leading Pittsburgh with 104 total tackles. Overall, the linebacker has played 104 games in seven years, recording 617 tackles, out of which 396 are solo. He also has 6.5 sacks to his name to go with three&nbsp;interceptions as well.

As for Cunningham, the former Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans linebacker hasn't been much effective in the last two seasons owing to an elbow injury. He, however, recorded three consecutive 100+ tackles from 2018 to 2020. A round 2 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Cunningham spent three seasons with the Texans before moving to Tennessee for a couple of years.

In 2020, Cunningham had the best season of his career, recording 164 total tackles in 16 games with 106 being solo to go with three sacks as well. Overall, the LB has played 82 games, registering 620 total tackles out of which 392 are solo. He also has 6.5 sacks to his name along with one interception that he recorded in 2018.

The Eagles start their season against the New England Patriots on September 10.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles sign linebackers Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham to strengthen depth chart

A jury in Ohio courtroom acquitted Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Josh Sills on Friday, August 4 on one count of rape and kidnapping. Sills was indicted for the same by Guernsey County Common Pleas Court grand jury in February. The jury in Ohio, however, thought otherwise after a three-hour long deliberation.

Sills was pleased after the verdict and was glad that his innocence has been proven. "I have done nothing wrong, and I am glad that was proven today," Sills said after the ruling, reported ESPN.

Sill was accused of engaging in a non-consensual sexual activity and holding a victim against her will in December 2019. After Sill was found guilty in February, the league had put him on the exempt list. The OL, however, continued to remain on the Eagles' roaster who had signed him in April 2022.

Being on the exempt list, Sills was barred from joining the Eagles squad in practices or games or even travel. Following his vindication, the Eagles released a statement saying that he'll be returning to active roaster.

"We are aware that the legal matter involving Josh Sills has been adjudicated and he was found not guilty. The organization has monitored the situation. The NFL has removed him from the Commissioner's Exempt List and he will return to the team's active roster."

The NFL also issued a statement, saying that Sill has been removed from the commissioner's exempt list.

"We have notified the Eagles that Sills has been removed from the commissioner's exempt list and is eligible to join the club. His status will be included in tomorrow's league's personnel notice.''

Sill appeared in only one game last season for the Eagles, that is, in October against the Arizona Cardinals.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Josh Sills acquitted from rape and kidnapping charges

New Orleans Saints rusher Alvin Kamara and Indianapolis Colts cornerback Chris Lammons were issued three-game suspensions Friday by the NFL for their roles in a 2022 Las Vegas nightclub fight. The bans for personal conduct policy violations will keep each player out for his team's first three games of the upcoming regular season.

Lammons and Kamara are eligible for all pre-season games and workouts.

Kamara will miss Saints games against Tennessee, Carolina and Green Bay before being allowed back on September 25 ahead of a home game against Tampa Bay.

Lammons will miss Colts games against Jacksonville, Houston and Baltimore before returning on September 25 ahead of a home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Kamara pleaded innocent in March to charges of misdemeanor conspiracy to commit battery and felony battery resulting in substantial bodily harm.

He and three others, including Lammons, faced charges for allegedly punching and kicking victim Darrell Greene outside a Las Vegas nightclub during the weekend of the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl game, in which Kamara played.

Police said a video supported Greene's claims that he was punched by Lammons and kicked by multiple people, resulting in a broken right orbital bone.

Greene filed a civil lawsuit that was settled out of court.

Kamara pleaded no contest last month to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace and was ordered to serve 30 hours of community service and pay Greene $105,000 for medical expenses as well as a $500 fine.

The plea enabled Kamara, 27, to escape a possible felony battery charge that could have sent him behind bars for five years.

Kamara met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday in New York to discuss the incident and made an apology Friday in his first public comments about the incident.

"Poor judgement on my end," Kamara said. "Definitely a bad decision.

"I was completely wrong. I embarrassed the Saints; I embarrassed my family and my mother. I embarrassed myself, embarrassed the city, and the shield, obviously, embarrassed the NFL."

Kamara, entering his seventh NFL campaign, has 5,135 rushing yards, 8,888 total yards from scrimmage and 72 touchdowns in his career.

The Saints are 3-7 in games without Kamara since he debuted. He will miss at least one contest for a sixth consecutive season.

"I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tough. I've lost a lot throughout this ordeal," Kamara said. "Definitely not looking for any pity, not looking for somebody to give me a pat on the back and say it's OK.

"I know what I did, I know what I was involved in and I definitely take responsibility. That's part of being a man and growing. From here, I've just got to make the right decisions and make the right choices."

NFL legend Tom Brady becomes part of Birmingham City as minority owner

Los Angeles Rams were dealt with a fresh blow as receiver Cooper Kupp left practice early after suffering a hamstring injury on Tuesday night (August 01). The extent&nbsp;of his injury is not known yet and the team is also uncertain how long he will be sidelined. Kupp injured himself very soon during his two-hour&nbsp;workout at UC Irvine. According to coach Sean McVay, he 'came up a little bit in a red zone route'.

Later in the day, the team spokesperson confirmed the diagnosis to the reporters. "Obviously, we're much better when he's here, and we hope he's going to be OK," McVay said as quoted by ESPN. "If he's not, we'll see what happens, but the practice had to go on."&nbsp;

It is to be noted that Kupp is returning for his seventh NFL season this fall after missing the final eight games of the previous&nbsp;season due to a high ankle sprain. In addition, he&nbsp;skipped the final eight games of his second NFL season in 2018 with a torn knee ligament.

In 2021, the 30-year-old Kupp was on a roll. He won the NFL's triple crown of receiving, leading the league in terms of catches (145), yards receiving (1,947) as well as touchdowns (16). He was also Rams' vital cog during the playoff run,&nbsp;culminating in as many as&nbsp;two touchdown catches in the Super Bowl which comprised&nbsp;the winner with 1:25 to play.

Kupp is expected to be Stafford's go-to target again this fall. "I just want to know what's going on," Stafford claimed. "That's the main thing, and I'll figure that out at some point. But I trust our guys, and whatever is going on, I know he'll do everything he can to work through whatever is going on and be back out here whenever it's the right time."

The Rams will be kicking off&nbsp;the preseason with a face-off with the Los Angeles Chargers on August 12 (Sunday).

NFL: Los Angeles Rams' wide receiver Cooper Kupp leaves practice after hamstring injury

Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick got severely injured and has suffered a torn left Achilles during practice on Monday (July 31), ESPN reported citing sources. It is believed to be a severe injury and comes as a huge blow to Patrick&nbsp;who already missed the entire 2022 season with a torn right ACL, short for anterior cruciate ligament. Patrick was taken off the field immediately and an MRI later confirmed the Achilles tear, reported by 9News in Denver, which indicates that the receiver is now set to miss his second straight season.

Last August, Patrick suffered his torn ACL before another injury has come his way. He was on&nbsp;the ground when he made a cut during a 7-on-7 drill with no defender around him.

"I was watching it directly, he was running a route, it was something we had corrected earlier, on air, planted, thought it looked like he slipped," coach Sean Payton pointed out. "Many people can't compete like him," Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II said.

Apart from Patrick, the Broncos suffered another big blow to their wide receiver depth chart following KJ Hamler's announcement, on Instagram, of being diagnosed with a "mild heart irritation, called pericarditis.''

Thus, he claimed that he will be out of action for some time but intends to return later this season after his treatment.&nbsp;

It is safe to say that a streak of injuries&nbsp;continues to haunt the Broncos when it comes to their wide receiver positioning. The likes of&nbsp;Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Hamler and Patrick have hardly featured together in the line-up. In fact, the trio have appeared in only two games over the last three seasons.

Sutton suffered a torn ACL in 2020 whereas Hamler opted out of action with a torn ACL as well as hip injury in 2021, and Patrick had his torn ACL in 2022.

Thus, difficult times continue for the Broncos with key players out due to injury crisis.

NFL: Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick suffers torn Achilles during practice

Dallas Cowboys running back Ronald Jones will not be playing the first two games of 2023 regular season after being suspended. The RB has been handed a two-game retribution for violating the league's performance-enhancement drug policy, reported ESPN on August 1.

Jones, however, can take part in the training camp and play pre-season games. His suspension will start from September 3 and he will be eligible to return to the squad on September 18. The Cowboys play their Week 2 game against the New York Jets on September 17.

The RB had joined the Cowboys in March in an one-year contract after playing the last season with the Kanas City Chiefs. A round 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Jones was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with whom he played five seasons till 2022.

His best year in the NFL also came with the Bucs when he rushed for 978 yards in 192 carries along with seven touchdowns in 2018. The performance was helpful enough for the Bucs to win the Super Bowl.

With the Chiefs, the RB couldn't perform well as he finished with just 70 rushing yards in 17 attempts during the six games he played with the eventual Super Bowl winners.&nbsp;

Overall, Jones had played 61 games in the league with 2,244 rushing yards to his name in 505 carries to go with 19 TDs.&nbsp;

The Cowboys are running low on options for RBs behind Jones and starting running back Tony Pollard. The franchise, however, have three more options in Rico Dowdle, Malik Davis and Deuce Vaughn.

"I tell you, I'm loving Rico," coach Mike McCarthy said before the announcement of Jones' suspension. "It's great to have him back. Malik, he's taken that jump that you're looking for. Those two guys have really jumped out. Obviously, we've got to get Deuce involved. I think that's important ... He's a guy that was on my mind during the summer."

NFL: Dallas Cowboys RB Ronald Jones suspended two games for PED policy violation

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has teared into Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton for criticising Jets' &nbsp;offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett during an interview. Notably, Hackett was the offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers from 2019-21 and Rodgers was the NFL MVP two times in those years as the Packers QB.

"It made me feel bad that someone who has accomplished a lot in the league is that insecure that they have to take another man down to set themselves up for some easy fall if it doesn't go well for that team this year," Rodgers told NFL+ in an interview. "I think it was way out of line, inappropriate, and I think he needs to keep my coaches' names out of his mouth."

Notably, Payton had told USA Today last week that Hackett's 15-game stint as the Broncos' head coach last season was 'one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of NFL.' Payton also said that there were '20 dirty hands' around Broncos QB Russell Wilson during his career-worst year of 16 touchdowns and a league-high 55 sacks. Hackett was fired after going 4-11 in his first 15 games.

Payton, however, apologised for his remarks and termed them as 'a mistake.'

Jets coach Robert Saleh also came out in defense of Hackett after Payton's comments.

"I kind of live by the saying, 'If you ain't got no haters, you ain't popping,'" Saleh said. "So hate away. Obviously, we're doing something right if you've got to talk about us when we don't play you until [Week 5]."

Speaking on his equation with Hackett, Rodgers said, "We had some great years together in Green Bay."

"[We] kept in touch. Love him and his family. He's an incredible family man and an incredible dad. And on the field, he's arguably my favorite coach I've ever had in the NFL. Just his approach to it. He makes it fun, how he cares about the guys, just how he goes about his business with respect, with leadership, with honesty, with integrity."

NFL: Aaron Rodgers tears into Broncos head coach Sean Payton for comments about Jets' Nathaniel Hackett

On Sunday (July 30), Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. got injured during a skirmish that took place between the offense and defense in the team's final practice at the Greenbrier resort. While no immediate update has been provided on Wheatley Jr. from coach Kevin Stefanski, he straight away went to the locker room with the training staff.

Meanwhile, coach&nbsp;Stefanski wrapped up&nbsp;practice early and had the players run sprints post Wheatley's injury.&nbsp;The side's practice got heated up&nbsp;when defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and right tackle James Hudson exchanged blows. It all started when Okoronkwo slapped Hudson's face mask and ran away. To this, Hudson chased Okoronkwo down and punched him in the helmet, leading to a fight.&nbsp;

<h2>'I'm not surprised at that at all'</h2>

Stefanski said after the practice, as quoted by ESPN, "Fighting, skirmishes, jawing happens in every training camp at every level of football.&nbsp;They're tired, they're hot, they've been going against each other, so I'm not surprised at that at all. They talked about it. It's over. We don't throw punches, so I'll review that stuff, and there's obviously penalties."

"If you're throwing punches in games, you get thrown out of the game. So why practice something that would get you thrown out of a game? So, we will address that, obviously, but I don't think anybody's ever been around a bunch of football players in the heat that don't get a little agitated, if you will."

The seriousness of the 26-year-old Wheatley Jr's injury isn't known yet. It remains to be seen if he misses his side's next game. It is to be noted that the Browns have one practice this week, on Tuesday (August 01) in Berea, Ohio, prior to the Hall of Fame Game versus the New York Jets on Thursday.

NFL: Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. gets injured in practice skirmish

Twenty-eight-year-old two-time Super Bowl champion Running Back Sony Michel has decided to hang his cleats. The RB's decision was announced by Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay on Sunday after practice. Michel had won one of his two Super Bowls with the Rams. He had re-signed with the Los Angeles team after being a backup with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022.

"What an incredible player. What a great career this guy has had," McVay said.

"It's a bummer. His body's feeling like it's talking to him, and I have nothing but respect and appreciation for the competitor that he is and love Sony," added McVay who hailed Michel as an 'instrumental piece' in Rams' 2021 Super Bowl victory.

Michel played for just five years in the NFL after a successful college career at Georgia. He was picked by the New England Patriots in the 2018 NFL Draft in round 1 and won his first Super Bowl with them. In fact, Michel scored the Patriots' only touchdown in New England's 13-3 victory over the Rams in Super Bowl 53 (season 2018).

NFL: 28-year-old two-time Super Bowl champion Running Back Sony Michel retires

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been sidelined for multiple weeks due to a calf strain, said coach Zac Taylor on Friday, July 28. This is not first time that the QB has suffered from a medical issue leading to the season. In 2021, he was convalescent from a torn ACL and MCL injury and his ruptured appendix required surgery in 2022 before the camp.

Coach Taylor, however, isn't fussing much about the issue and said that Burrow has already done enough work prior to the injury than he had done in last two camps.

"Joe got more days this July than he's ever had in the NFL," Taylor said. "So, I feel really good about that and the progress we've made during those July practices with Joe, and when he's able to get back we'll be able to get the work that we need."

The Bengals will start their season on September 10 against the Cleveland Browns.

In the meantime, Taylor said quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning will take snaps with the first teams in rotation.

"You might see two days in a row where one guy's taking [snaps] with the 1s. Don't read too much into it," Taylor said. "We're in the early parts of camp. We're going to give those guys a lot of opportunity. That's the silver lining here. These guys get a chance to go with the first group and get a lot of work, a lot more work than they would have gotten."

Burrow, the top pick in 2020 NFL draft, has bee significant in turning around the fortunes of the Bengals. The Heisman trophy winner has played 16 games each in the last two season and played in 10 in his rookie season. Overall, Burrow has a pass completion percentage of 68.2, completing 1044 passes in 1530 attempts for 11,774 yards. He has also racked up 82 touchdowns to his name in 42 games so far.&nbsp;
