Jawan advance bookings cross $10 million in US, SRK's film set for $1 billion on first day

There is good news for Shah Rukh Khan fans. The actor's upcoming film Jawan has been cleared with a 'U/A' certificate by the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). The board has also suggested seven crucial changes in the film.

Jawan is SRK's second release in 2023. His earlier release Pathaan hit theatres in January and is the highest-grossing film of the year. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham made over Rs 3 billion in India and crossed the Rs 10 billion mark in its worldwide gross collection.

Jawan has been directed by Atlee and also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Sanya Malhotra and Deepika Padukone will be seen in cameo roles.

An 'U/A' certificate means that people of all age groups can watch the film. Kids under the age of 12 are advised parental guidance as the film can contain violent action scenes.

The censor board has also asked the makers of Jawan to make 7 changes. The list of changes has been doing the rounds of the internet.

According to reports, the makers have been asked to make seven changes in the film.

The reported changes suggested in SRK’s Jawan are:

1) To reduce the timing and limit the visuals of suicide in one of the scenes
2) Removal of the visuals that show a human body being beheaded.
3) Change an ‘out of context’ reference of the Honourable President of India to ‘Head Of State’.
4) Removal of words ‘paida hoke’ from one of the dialogues.
5) Phrase ‘Ungli karna‘ to be replaced with ‘Usse use karo‘ and the word ‘Sampraday‘ was added to yet another dialogue in the film.
6) Yet another dialogue at 1 hour 39 minutes has been modified.
7) The ‘irrelevant references’ to NSG (National Security Guard) were removed. NSG has now been changed to IISG in the film.

The changes asked by the Censor board are being termed as minor as compared to some major changes that the film body had demanded during the release of Pathaan.

The board had passed the film with ‘U/A’ certificate and had suggested twelve cuts including Deepika Padukone’s close-up shots in the controversial 'Besharam Rang' song.

Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan gets 'U/A' certificate, CBFC asks for 7 changes

Shah Rukh Khan, often lovingly referred to as the King of Bollywood, has always been known for his charismatic personality and wit. Turns out the actor, whose last release Pathaan was a stupendous success, was always very good with his words. Proof of this can be seen in an old handwritten essay by him during his college days when he used to live in Delhi with his family.

The essay has taken social media by storm, showcasing the superstar's charm even before he graced the silver screen.

The viral essay by SRK offers an intimate look into the actor's early life and personality.

The excerpt from the essay reads, "I had a very happy childhood as far as I remember. I was the second normal child born to my parents after a five-year age gap with my elder sister. My actions at the age of 5 years were those of any other kid down the block - winking at girls of the Manavsthali School, throwing flying kisses at aunts 6-7 times my age, and dancing to the tune of Chakke pe Chakka."

The actor also talks about his interest in theatre and why he chose Hansraj College for graduation as he felt the dramatics society of the college was the best.

Jawan song Chaleya out! Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara look mesmerising

The first song of Jawan was unveiled on Monday and from the looks of it, it has all the trappings of becoming the next blockbuster song. Titled Zinda Banda, the song is a visual spectacle and has Shah Rukh Khan dancing with 1,000-plus women. The song begins with glimpses of Shah Rukh Khan in a police uniform and then cuts to the next few scenes where we see him shaking a leg in a red shirt with a background full of women.

In the song, we can also spot Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani who play key roles in the film that has directed by Atlee.

The star of the song is, of course, SRK, and Zinda Banda has uncanny similarities to Khan's iconic hit Lungi Dance.

Sharing the video on his Instagram feed, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "When principles are at stake, one must fight, This battle is what makes you alive! I thank Wasim Barelvi sahab with all my heart for letting us use this beautiful couplet with a minor change. The song is written by Irshad Kamil Sir, and the music is by my dear friend Anirudh. Presenting, Zinda Banda!"

Presenting, Zinda Banda!" Nayanthara as badass cop looks stellar in new Jawan poster shared by SRK

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to appear in filmmaker Atlee's upcoming film Jawan. This will be SRK's second film in 2023 and his first collaboration with Atlee, who is well-known in South India for his blockbuster films. The film reportedly has an all-south crew and is pitched as a South film with a North Indian actor playing the lead. The recently released prevue of Jawan also indicated that the visuals, aesthetics and action sequences made it look like a South Indian film.

Khan, in fact, has himself admitted that the film is heavily influenced by Tamil films. The superstar recently did an AMA session on Twitter with his fans and was asked if he watched a lot of movies to prepare for his role in Jawan.

On Thursday, a fan tweeted, "#AskSRK did you see a lot of movies revolving around your role in Jawan to better prepare for it?”
Shah Rukh responded that he watched films made by the director of Atlee and several South Indian actors, including Allu Arjun, Thalapathy Vijay, Rajinikanth, and Yash.

“I watched a lot of films of Atlee, Vijay sir, Allu Arjun ji, Rajni sir, Yash and loads of other stars to understand the language of expression for the world that was being created. And yes then prepped for my own character too. #Jawan,” said the actor.

Jawan also features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi - both bonafide stars of South India.

Khan's admission of watching other actors' work and drawing inspiration from them was lauded by fans. Most appreciated that Khan was open about his prep and how respectfully he addressed each of the actors.

Owing to the pan-India success of films like Pushpa and KGF, actors Allu Arjun and Yash have now become household names across the country. Rajinikanth has always been Tamil cinema’s biggest pan-India star. Thalapathy Vijay, on the other hand, has been the biggest box office draw in Kollywood for several years now.

Jawan will hit theatres on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Atlee pens a sweet note for his 'Jawan' Shah Rukh Khan amid great response to Jawan prevue

It was a happy Monday for all Shah Rukh Khan fans as the superstar unveiled the prevue of his new film Jawan. The film has SRK collaborating with filmmaker Atlee and actress Nayanthara for the first time. The Jawan prevue was unveiled on social media on Monday and was hailed as the next big blockbuster by one and all who heaped praises on the first look of the film and also on SRK's hatke avatar. While fans went gaga over the slick teaser, everyone also noticed Khan's bald look in the film - a first for the actor on screen.

Towards the end of the Jawan prevue, Shah Rukh Khan is shown opening up his bandage from his face and unveiling a completely bald look. Shah Rukh Khan's Monday evening plan is all about watching Jawan with Atlee

Shah Rukh Khan's highly anticipated film Jawan has a new release date. Helmed by Atlee, the film was earlier scheduled to release in June but will now hit theatres on September 7. Jawan will be SRK's first release after the super-successful Pathaan which was released in January this year and broke box office records worldwide.

This is the first time that the actor will be working with filmmaker Atlee. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of South Indian actress Nayanthara.

"Jawan has been shifted from June to September because it is not ready. Shah Rukh Khan and his director Atlee don't want to rush through the special effects and post-production. After Pathaan, SRK doesn't want to give his fans an experience that will compromise their movie experience even a bit. Henceforth SRK won't do any project that falls even an iota below what his audience expects," said the source to E Times.
SRK announced the new release date for Jawan with a teaser and poster, both of which were shared on his social media accounts.
