A year after the tournament ended, it was revealed that the player's wife stayed with him for the entire seven-week duration of the tournament without seeking permission from either the captain or the coach for her extended stay.

The documents in which the CoA discussed the issue but eventually denied the request were accessed by PTI.

The Item 6 sub-clause G of the minutes of the CoA meeting read:

Request from a player

1. The COA discussed that one of the players from the Men's Senior Team had requested permission for his wife to accompany him to the World Cup tour earlier than is otherwise permissible.

2. The CoA was informed that the matter is being discussed with the concerned player and that it may not be advisable to grant the request.

3. After some discussion, the CoA decided that it will not accede to the above request from the concerned player.

As per minutes of CoA meeting on May 21 (Sec 1 (B) (1) ), the Family Clause stated: "The issue of whether the authority to approve any visits from visitors outside the 'visitor period' should vest with the team captain and coach or with the BCCI management was discussed. It was noted that the BCCI management has traditionally decided these matters. It was also noted that the BCCI constitution requires cricketing and non-cricketing matters are to be kept separate."

According to PTI, an anonymous BCCI source confirmed such violations did take place during the tournament.

"Yes, the same player in question, who was categorically denied permission during May 3 meeting, violated the 15-day rule during the World Cup. The question that arises here is whether the player in question had sought permission about the extra duration of stay of his wife from the competent authorities -- in this case the coach and the captain. The answer is a 'No'," the official said.

The matter is yet to be reported to the CoA, it has raised questions against administrative manager Sunil Subramaniam as to why he did not veto the arrangement since it was his domain.

Team India can't look beyond MS Dhoni if he is fit and firing: Wasim Jaffer

MS Dhoni last played for India in the semi-final of ICC World Cup 2019 where the Men in Blue suffered a crushing defeat to New Zealand.
With the IPL 2020 getting suspended until April 15, Dhoni's comeback has been thrown out of the window and the waiting game has started for the ardent cricket lovers. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is of the view that it will be a difficult task for Virat Kohli and Co. to fit in Dhoni in the playing XI given the kind of form KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are in, at the moment.

Sehwag has said it will be better for Team India to stick to the combination of Rahul and Pant as bringing in Dhoni might disrupt the balance of the squad.

This happened when New Zealand was just seven runs away from victory (125-3). In a most bizarre decision of all, Kohli decided to ball an over to Henry Nicholls.

Surprisingly Henry Nicholls looked nervous while playing the over. Kohli's second delivery almost got the wicket of Nicholls after a loose pull-shot saw a fielder at mid-on, but the ball did not carry. Netizens went crazy after this display, they took to twitter to express their views on Kolhi's bowling:

India might have faced a bitter defeat by the hands of the Kiwis but there was a moment during the match when the Indian team and Spectators burst out in laughter. This happened when Virat Kohli chose to bowl an over. Also read: New Zealand beat India by 7 wickets, tour ends with consecutive whitewash This happened when New Zealand was just seven runs away from victory (125-3). Netizens went crazy after this display, they took to twitter to express their views on Kolhi's bowling: Nothing would make me happier than Virat Kohli keeping his sunglasses on while bowling. #NZvIND — Michael Wagener (@Mykuhl) March 2, 2020 × Virat Kohli bowling in a Test match & that sums up the series!! #INDvsNZ — Ethir Katchi (@sudhanks) March 2, 2020 × I'm a fan of Kohli's bowling — Gummadians (@14_saiteja) March 2, 2020 × Rishabh Pant on stump mic making it appear as if Virat Kohli’s is better than Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling!!! — Anil P Joseph (@Anil4Joseph) March 2, 2020 × https://t.co/DUXRQUwv7O — faceplatter49 (@faceplatter49) March 2, 2020 × Kiwi seal 7 wickets win over India on the third day of the five-day Test match at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
As Women's T20 World Cup is about to start, fans across the country just have one question on their mind, can the Indian side replicate the feat of Kapil Dev's 1983 World Cup-winning squad?

Now talking about the women's side, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team has the best chance of winning their first ICC title. Apart from Australia and England, India is being viewed as the prime favourites to win the title.

The team has a perfect balance of youngsters and experienced campaigners. Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh would be playing their first World Cup and they would rely on experienced campaigners like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana.

Mandhana has the record for registering fastest fifty by an Indian batswoman in the T20I format and her along with Shafali Verma will look to give the Indian side a fast start at the top.

Sixteen-year-old Shafali Verma has taken the global sport by storm. She has a playing style similar to that of Virender Sehwag, as she relies majorly on scoring boundaries. In the recent women's tri-series, the youngster hit a straight six off Australia's bowler and the shot went viral on social media.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the most experienced Indian batswoman will give stability to the middle order and will look to finish off matches. India's lower-order has failed to rise to the occasion, so it would be interesting to see how the side manages to cope if Mandhana and Harmanpreet fail.

In terms of bowling, India looks the most settled as the side has a perfect combination of spin and pace. Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma are known for spinning a cob-web around the opposition batters and the trio has an ability to defend modest totals.

India has a big challenge ahead of them in the first match, as the team would lock horns with hosts and defending champions Australia. The side managed to reach the finals of ICC 50-over World Cup in 2017. They also went to the semis of the 2018 T20 Women's World cup, but now, can they go all the way to bring a major title for the women's sport in the country?

Lendl Simmons' stylish 67 ensured that West Indies defeat India comprehensively to level the three-match series here in Trivandrum on Sunday.

Chasing a stiff target of 171, West Indies remained flawless throughout the second innings. Simmons and Evin Lewis opening partnership of 73 runs laid a solid foundation as the visitors won the match with nine balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. Simmons remained not out as Nicholas Pooran (38) struck a boundary against the bowling of Deepak Chahar to finish off the proceedings.

Washington Sundar was the only Indian bowler who restricted West Indies' scoring rate and ended up with one wicket by giving only 26 runs in his four overs. Ravindra jadeja also claimed one wicket but was smacked for 22 runs in his two overs.

Simmons was awarded Player of the Match trophy for his unbeaten 67 runs which included four sixes.

Earlier West Indies captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to field first. Pollard's decison to bowl first was rewarded as the Indian openers were unable to provide a good start to the team.

However, Dube's maiden T20 international fifty ensured that the hosts continued scoring at a brisk pace. Dube, who was promoted to crucial number 3 spot, struck four sixes and three fours before getting dismissed on 54 off 30 balls.

West Indies' disciplined bowling attack ensured that India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Most of the Indian batsmen failed to convert their starts into a big score and Rishabh Pant's quickfire 33, in the end, gave the impetus to India to put up a fighting total of 170 for the loss of seven wickets.

Kohli, who single-handedly pulled off the last match, was unable to repeat his performance and was caught on 19. However, Kohli surpassed his fellow mate Rohit Sharma in the battle of scoring most runs in T20 international cricket.

Kohli was ably supported by Ajinkya Rahane, who scored a half-century and the duo put on a crucial partnership of 99 runs. After the loss of Kohli and Rahane, India lost few quick wickets before wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammed Shami hit few boundaries to take India a tad under 350.

This was the 20th ton of Kohli as skipper and an incredible catch by concussion substitute Taijul Islam ended Indian skipper's innings at 138. The highlight of Kohli's innings was when he smashed Abu Jayed for four consecutive boundaries before finishing his innings with 18 fours. Al-Amin Hossain and Ebadat Hossain claimed three wickets each. On day 1, Bangladeshi batsmen went down like ninepins against lethal pace bowling led by Sharma who picked up five wickets. This is the first pink-ball Test played by either of the sides at Eden Garden in Kolkata.
