Manchester United are now reportedly open to letting Cristiano Ronaldo leave this summer after having maintained for weeks that the Portuguese forward was not for sale. Despite Ronaldo having expressed his desire to leave the club, United's stance was that he was not for sale and would see out the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

However, as per a report in BBC, United could let the Portuguese star leave in the ongoing transfer window as his mood is affecting the morale of the rest of the squad. Ronaldo is said to be a 'negative presence at the club and he hardly communicates with his teammates in the canteen.

As per BBC, sources suggest that United might be willing to let him go even if they were not to find any replacement for him in the current transfer window as many at the club believe his departure will uplift the morale of the players. This comes after United suffered two humiliating defeats in their first two games of the season against Brighton and Brentford, respectively.

While Brighton beat United 2-1, Brentford handed the Red Devils a proper thrashing in a comprehensive 4-0 win at home. United looked clueless in the remainder of the first half after a mistake from David de Gea saw Brentford take the lead in the 10th minute before scoring three more inside the next 25 minutes to extend their lead to 4-0.

It was a dismal show from the United players, who clearly struggled against Brentford's energetic and intense high pressing. The back-to-back defeats in the Premier League have quickly wiped out any optimism United had regained after a good pre-season and the majority of the blame has been put on Ronaldo.

Earlier this summer, there were reports that Ronaldo had informed United of his desire to leave citing the lack of Champions League football and their inactivity in the transfer market. The Portuguese is still actively looking for a move away from the club as he wants to spend the final few years of his career fighting for major titles.

Ronaldo had rejoined United from Juventus last summer and went on to notch up 18 goals for the club in the Premier League. However, his heroics were not enough to help United finish in the top four as they ended up finishing a lowly sixth to miss out on a spot in the Champions League. While Ronaldo has expressed his desire to leave, no top club in Europe has shown any interest in buying the 37-year-old.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'negative presence' at Manchester United, club open to letting him leave - Report

Manchester United continue their torrid run. After finishing sixth in the last Premier League season, and missing out on 2022/23 Champions League (CL) football, the Red Devils have got off to a miserable start in the new EPL season, losing to Brighton (2-1) and being thrashed by Brentford (4-0).

While there is a lack of activity on the transfer window and fans' frustrations continue to rise further with each loss, the constant chatter regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford is also not helping the team management. As per various reports, the Portuguese captain is desperate to leave the club. However, a report suggests that the Old Trafford club is not willing to sell Ronaldo despite the management's concerns over his negative influence on others.

There are even reports suggesting that Ronaldo is sometimes eating alone in the cafeteria. Despite all this, the club owners remain adamant that the player will not be sold. Whatever the truth behind all such reports, one thing is certain that Man United is struggling both on and off the field at the moment.

According to a report on ESPN, United is adamant to not selling Ronaldo and reports of the club warning him over a potential contract termination are also doing the rounds. The club's bosses are believed to have informed the superstar striker that he either needs to 'fix his attitude' or risk getting his contract terminated. For the unversed, Ronaldo had signed a two-year contract last year when he was bought back by the Red Devils from Juventus.

Ronaldo was on the bench in Man United's EPL 2022/23 season opener versus Brighton but found a place in the starting XI versus Brentford, where he returned without scoring a single goal in his side's 4-0 thrashing.

Man United not keen to sell Ronaldo despite management's concerns over his 'negative influence': Report

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was recently urged by his nephew to part ways with the club after the club suffered an utterly humiliating loss at the hands of Brentford. The 4-0 setback against The Bees marked United's second consecutive loss after they kicked off their Premier League season with a 2-1 loss against Brighton Hove & Albion.

The striker has been eagerly trying to switch sides this summer as his Champions League aspirations for this season were dashed due to the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League. A disappointing transfer window has only added salt to his wounds, bolstering his desire to move on to greener pastures.

His desire to leave the club in his rearview is something that is being supported by members of his family. His nephew is seemingly the first to support his bid to leave. In a series of posts on his Instagram story, Ronaldo's nephew shared snaps of United's game against Brentford, mocking the club and asking him to move on.

"Get out of there uncle," wrote his nephew on Instagram in Portuguese.

Should push come to shove, Ronaldo still has the option of terminating his contract with the club and entering the free agency pool to facilitate his move out of the franchise as he is on his final year of the contract. Therefore, the club will have to mend their ways if they hope to retain the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

'Get out of there'- Cristiano Ronaldo's nephew urges Portuguese star to leave Manchester United

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is once again facing flak on social media after he was snubbed the away fans at the Gtech Community Stadium after the club's woeful 4-0 loss against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday (August 14). Ronaldo didn't acknowledge the away fans at the stadium after the game and stormed into the tunnel following the embarrassing loss.

It was yet another dismal performance from United as their horror run continued under new manager Erik Ten Hag, who has now lost his first two games in charge of the club in the Premier League. There was significant optimism surrounding Ten Hag's arrival at Old Trafford this summer but consecutive defeats in the first two games have left the fan base fuming.

On Saturday, Brentford ran riot at home as the hosts scored 4 goals inside the first 35 minutes at Old Trafford to head into the second half with a stunning 4-0 cushion. Josh Dasilva opened the scoring in the 10th minute followed by goals from Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo as Brentford registered a comprehensive win against United.

Following the shocking defeat, a number of United players went on to acknowledge the fans at the away end, who kept chanting in support of the club despite their 4-0 defeat to Brentford. However, Portuguese star Ronaldo didn't approach the fans and was spotted leaving midway despite insistence from manager Ten Hag’s assistant Steve McClaren.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes, David De Gea, Marcus Rashford and Donny Van de Beek among others were seen acknowledging the fans as they apologised for their horror show. However, Ronaldo headed towards the tunnel after exchanging a few words with Mclaren. His video son went viral on social media, inviting criticism from all corners.

WATCH: Cristiano Ronaldo refuses to acknowledge Manchester United's away fans after Brentford defeat

There seems to be no end to the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga. The superstar footballer is keen on leaving Manchester United and wants to play for a club that can challenge for top honours. As Man United finished sixth in the last EPL season, Ronaldo will also be missing out on 2022/23 Champions League football and, hence, the Portuguese captain is keen to join a new club.

So far, plenty have been said and written about Ronaldo's transfer saga with his agent Jorge Mendes having held talks with Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, Athletico Madrid, etc. However, nothing concrete has come out of all discussions. With no options available, Ronaldo is carrying on with the Red Devils although reports suggest that the 37-year-old is desperate to leave.

When Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was recently by fans asked if the club will entertain the thoughts of re-signing Ronaldo once again, he said, "Sign Ronaldo?". "Again? He's 38-years-old."

Thus, Ronaldo's old club Real Madrid has surely ruled out a move for the aging star. Amid all this, the striker continues to don the Man United jersey and was part of their 2-1 drubbing at the hands of Brighton in their new EPL season opener. Ronaldo had joined the club last year, for a two-year contract, but couldn't prevent United from sinking further as they ended at the sixth position in the previous EPL season.

Will Real Madrid sign Cristiano Ronaldo once again? Club president answers the big question

Cristiano Ronaldo recently outperformed his Manchester United teammates in a footrace in training. The fact that this comes shortly after he was left out of the lineup citing fitness issues makes this feat all the more impressive.

Even though Anthony Martial was nursing a minor injury ahead of their Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., Erik ten Hag decided to keep Ronaldo on the bench, stunting United's attacking options. Instead, he picked Christian Eriksen to lead the charge, who ultimately had to be deployed as a deep-lying midfielder in the second half.

The new boss Ten Hag justified his decision to leave Ronaldo out of the starting lineup due to issues with his fitness after the Dutchman found himself at the receiving end of a significant amount of flak. Although Ronaldo was brought on in the 53rd minute, he couldn't bolster their attack as the Red Devils suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Brighton.

However, fitness seems to be the last problem for the Portuguese star as he was seen leading the pack in a post that was shared by the team's official Twitter account.

Karim Benzema spent nearly a decade playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. However, he has bolstered his game ever since the Portuguese star parted ways with the Los Blancos. Benzema recently opened up about his role in the aftermath of Ronaldo's departure and how he attempted to fill the void that he left behind.

Ronaldo bid the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium adieu back in 2018 in a bid to chart a course to Turin from Madrid to play under the coveted banner of Italian giants Juventus on a £100million deal. Since his departure, Benzema has really come into his own as the primary goal scorer for Los Blancos.

In a recent interaction with the media, the Frenchman offered fans some insight into how Ronaldo's absence created a space for him to truly hone his craft and push for more goals and golden boot accolades.

“It’s been different for me since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid. It’s true that I’ve scored many more goals, but when Cristiano was here, we had a different style of play, I was providing more assists," admitted Benzema.

He acknowledged the fact that the 37-year-old forward played an essential role in helping him grow on and off the pitch. However, he further conceded that Ronaldo's departure was the catalyst that prompted him to change his ways and strive for better results, which came in the form of more goals.

'I knew I could do more' - Karim Benzema admits Cristiano Ronaldo's exit boosted his ambition

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to generate headlines. The superstar footballer has reportedly been unhappy at Manchester United for quite some time and wants to end his second innings at the Red Devils to join some other club that plays in the Champions League. Man United had ended at the sixth spot in the last EPL season and, thus, Ronaldo is missing 2022/23 Champions League football.

Thus, many reports have stated that his agent Jorge Mendes is on his toes to find a new and suitable club for Ronaldo. Nonetheless, he is struggling at present with big clubs such as Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, etc. have said a 'No' to roping in the Portuguese captain. Hence, Ronaldo has no other option but to play the waiting game at the moment and remain firm at Man United.

There have been discussions between Ronaldo and United manager Erik ten Hag but reports suggest that the former is still keen to part ways with the club. In United's 2022/23 EPL season opener, Ronaldo came from the bench against Brighton but couldn't prevent a 1-2 defeat for his side. Amid all this, United legend Wayne Rooney is of the opinion that the club should let go of Ronaldo.

"I think United should let Cristiano Ronaldo go,” the former Manchester United striker told The Times.

"It's not that Ronaldo can't play in a Ten Hag team. He can play in any team. Ronny will always score you goals. But my personal view is that United aren't ready to challenge for the title now, so the aim has to be to build a team that can win the league in the next three to four years, and you have to plan for that.

"If the reports are true that Cristiano wants to leave the club, then United should allow him to go and get a No 9 in who is going to be there for the next three or four years and really help them build a team that can be successful. Ten Hag has to be given time to do it,” Rooney opined.

'I think Man United should...' - Wayne Rooney's take on Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford

Five strikers Manchester United can sign this window if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves

The mystery regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United continues to get complicated ahead of the new EPL season. Ahead of Man United's Premier League opener, where they face Brighton on August 07 (Sunday), it is being reported that the new manager Erik Ten Hag is set to bench Ronaldo from the playing XI.

So far, Ronaldo missed the Red Devils' pre-season tour of Bangkok and Australia -- citing personal reasons -- and only made a 45-minute appearance against Rayo Vallecano. His early exit from the game has not impressed the new manager, who is set to snub the star striker from Man Utd's season-opener (as per a report in The Sun).

Ten Hag is reportedly keen to go ahead with the front three in the form of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Thus, Ronaldo's omission will certainly make heads turn especially at a time when the 37-year-old isn't too keen to continue at the club. If this happens, this might push him further towards an exit.

Recently, in an interview with Dutch outlet Viaplay Sport Nederland, Erik opined on Ronaldo leaving the game before the final whistle. “You would expect someone who has played in the game to be in the changing rooms at the end to listen to the manager’s thoughts. Also a lot of people were there to see him and he was not even involved in the clapping of the fans after the final whistle,” Ten Hag added, further criticising Ronaldo.

It is clear that all is not well between Erik and Ronaldo and the two aren't on the same page as yet.

'It's unacceptable': Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag slams Cristiano Ronaldo for leaving game before final whistle

Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United continues to make the headlines. Ever since it was reported that the Portuguese captain isn't willing to stay back at the Red Devils' camp, his agent Jorge Mendes has been on the lookout for a new club where Ronaldo can begin from scratch and keep competing for major titles.

In the last EPL season, Man United finished sixth and, thus, Ronaldo will miss the Champions League (CL) football for the 2022/23 season if he chooses to stay put. Hence, he is eager to exit the club at the earliest despite not many takers at the moment. Nonetheless, a new twist has emerged in the Ronaldo transfer saga, on why he is too desperate to leave Man United .

According to a report in The Athletic, Ronaldo is not keen on playing in the Europa League this summer as he fears his arch-rival Lionel Messi could better his Champions League tally. In comparison to Ronaldo, the PSG striker Messi is gearing up to feature in Europe's top-tier club competition. Unlike Ronaldo, the Argentine captain is also one of the favourites to lift the Champions League title next year, with his French club undoubtedly being one of the strongest sides in Europe.

Not much separates the two legends Ronaldo and Messi when it comes to the CL tally. The Portugal captain has scored a total of 140 goals in CL so far in his glittering career whereas Messi's tally is 125. One can argue that scoring as many as 15 goals in a single season is certainly no cakewalk or a surety, it is to be noted that Messi is two years younger than Ronaldo, hence, he has every chance of surpassing his tally in the future.

Cristiano Ronaldo eager to exit Man Utd to not lose UCL record to arch-rival Lionel Messi: Report

On Tuesday (July 25), Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Carrington and joined the Manchester United camp for training ahead of the new EPL season. Ronaldo was set to have a discussion with new manager Erik ten Hag regarding his future at the club. Despite the talk, it seems Ronaldo is still keen to leave Man United and start afresh in a new club.

Ronaldo remains adamant to leave the Red Devils and join a club where he can compete for major titles. With United finishing sixth in the last EPL season, he will miss Champions League football as well for the 2022/23 season. Earlier, the Portuguese captain had missed the club's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, for personal reasons, which raised speculations of his exit.

Cristiano Ronaldo keen to exit Manchester United, club maintains he is not for sale: Report

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a move to several top European clubs this summer after expressing his desire to leave Manchester United. Ronaldo returned to United last year from Juventus and enjoyed a prolific season with the club, scoring 18 goals in the Premier League. However, United endured a disastrous campaign and finished 6th in the league to miss out on Champions League football.

Ronaldo reportedly wants to spend the final few years of his career playing for a club competing in the Champions League and believes United do not have the quality in their squad required to challenge for titles. Hence, he has informed the club about his desire to leave in search of a fresh challenge.

Ronaldo has been linked with a move to top clubs like Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich among others. However, none of them have shown concrete interest in signing the 37-year-old, who is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. Both Ronaldo's age and his playing style is a concern for clubs, who believe Ronaldo won't fit into their playing style.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn recently explained why Bayern don't want to make a move for Ronaldo this summer despite him scoring a total of 24 goals for United across competitions last season. Kahn said he personally regards Ronaldo as one of the greatest footballers of all time but he doesn't fit the club's philosophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Manchester and joined the Manchester United camp on Tuesday (July 26). The superstar footballer touched down in Manchester along with his superagent Jorge Mendes to hold talks with new manager Erik ten Hag regarding his future with the Red Devils, ahead of the commencement of the new EPL season.

As per various reports, Ronaldo is eager to cut short his stay at the premier club -- with one year still remaining in his contract -- after the Red Devils failed to make a mark in the last EPL season, ending sixth and missing out on Champions League football for the 2022/23 season. Thus, Ronaldo is eager to be associated with a club where he can compete in the Champions League and, hence, the 37-year-old isn't happy with how things have panned out for him in his ongoing second innings at the club. Thus, reports suggest that the Portuguese captain has handed in a transfer request. His absence from Man United's pre-season tour of Bangkok and Australia for personal reasons further raised speculations of his exit.

Was Alex Ferguson part of Ronaldo's meeting with Ten Hag over his Man UTD future? Here's the truth

There remains no clarity regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United. Ronaldo returned to the Red Devils club in 2021 and there is one more year left in his contract. However, the superstar footballer isn't reportedly happy at the Old Trafford club and has already handed in a transfer request.

The main concern for Ronaldo is that he wants to play in the Champions League (CL) and with Man United finishing sixth in the last EPL season, he will be deprived of CL football action for the 2022/23 season. Thus, the Portuguese star isn't willing to continue with the Red Devils. Amid such reports, the superstar striker had missed Man United's pre-season games, which further raised speculations regarding his exit.

Atletico Madrid willing to part ways with Antoine Griezmann for mega Cristiano Ronaldo move - Report

Will Cristiano Ronaldo stay put at Manchester United or will the superstar footballer join a new club? While at first it was believed that the Portugal captain will stay at the Red Devils, the situation has turned quite a lot as the 37-year-old is reportedly keen to start afresh in a new club. After Man United finished sixth last season, they will miss out on Champions League football for 2022/23 season, hence, Ronaldo is keen to make a move.

When Ronaldo's teammate and Man United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was asked about the Portuguese superstar's future with the club, the 27-year-old also remained puzzled. Will Cristiano Ronaldo remain at Manchester United? Bruno Fernandes shares his take

Cristiano Ronaldo's stay at Manchester United continues to remain a mystery. The situation has changed a lot ever since Ronaldo stated that he is looking to extend his stay and is focused on leading the Red Devils to more titles despite their forgettable run in the last EPL season.

Nonetheless, reports started flowing in that Ronaldo is now not much keen to stay back due to the club's approach in the transfer window ahead of the EPL 2022/23 edition. The superstar footballer believes the club does not have a squad capable of challenging for major trophies and the Portuguese captain is eager to compete in the Champions League, which Man United missed out on last season during their dismal campaign.

Thus, Ronaldo has been linked with several clubs such as PSG, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, etc. this summer. Among them, Atletico Madrid is also believed to be in the frame, however, as per a Spanish news outlet MARCA, the premier club have withdrawn from signing Ronaldo as they do not consider it economically viable. The report further states that Atletico can neither afford the striker's astronomical wages nor can they meet the Red Devils' asking price, around a whopping €15 million.

In addition, the report pointed out that Diego Simeone -- manager of Atletico Madrid -- is more keen to spend his finances on a move for Udinese and Argentina right-back Nahuel Molina, rather than going for Ronaldo. Despite all of this, one cannot totally rule out Ronaldo's chances of shifting to Madrid as his agent Jorge Mendes is believed to have strong relations with the club president Gil Marin.

The 37-year-old had returned to United last summer from Serie A side Juventus and finished as the club's top-scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals despite United enduring a disappointing season as they finished sixth to miss out on Champions League football next season. Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford with his agent trying to secure a deal.

However, Ten Hag said he is well-informed on Ronaldo's situation at United and expects him to stay at the club this season. He also didn't rule out the possibility of Ronaldo extending his stay for another year at United after his current contract expires next year.

“I am well informed – he also has an option (to extend his contract for another year)," said Ten Hag at the press conference ahead of United's pre-season clash against Crystal Palace. “Yes," he said when asked if Ronaldo can stay beyond the 2022-23 season. "Of course, I have signed here for three years, but in football, it’s short-term as well. We have to win from the start. So I don’t look that far ahead," he added.

Many believe Ronaldo won't fit the style of football Ten Hag might want to play at United as he continues his rebuild project at the club. At 37, despite his goal-poaching abilities, Ronaldo is not the player he once was and might not be able to give his best in terms of pressing, sprinting and winning the ball back as a forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo likely to reject whopping $276 million per season offer from Saudi club - Report

Manchester United have signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer with the Danish playmaker signing a three-year deal, the Premier League club announced on Friday. Eriksen, who needed life-saving treatment on the pitch last year when he suffered a near-fatal cardiac arrest in a European Championship match against Finland in June, returned to action with Brentford after signing a short-term deal in January.

Eriksen is United's second recruit in the close season under new Dutch manager Erik ten Hag after the club signed Dutch left back Tyrell Malacia.

"Manchester United is a special club and I cannot wait to get started. I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling," Eriksen said in a statement.

"I have seen Erik's work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach.

"Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future."

Eriksen was an Inter Milan player when he collapsed and underwent surgery to be fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) device -- which is not permitted in the Italian Serie A -- leading to the termination of his contract.

After signing for Brentford, he made 11 league appearances under Danish coach Thomas Frank, scoring a goal and providing four assists as Brentford finished 13th in their first season in the Premier League.

He is no stranger to the Premier League, however, having spent nearly seven seasons with Tottenham Hotspur, making more than 300 appearances in all competitions for the London side.

He also resumed his Denmark career, scoring against Serbia on his return to the Parken Stadium where he had collapsed.

"I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey," Eriksen added.

Christian Eriksen joins Erik Ten Hag's Manchester United on a free transfer ahead of new EPL season

A lot has been said and written about Cristiano Ronaldo's possible exit from Manchester United. Commencing his second innings at the Red Devils last year, Ronaldo's presence also couldn't help United finish the last EPL season on a high, ending at the sixth spot, and missing out on Champions League football as well.

While Ronaldo had made it clear that he is not going anywhere and will continue to be at the premier club, things have changed in the past few weeks. UNBELIEVABLE! Saudi club makes irresistible offer for Man United's Cristiano Ronaldo: Report

While Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United continues to remain a mystery for one and all, Lionel Messi is also making heads turn on whether he would stay at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for another year or not.

Earlier, it was reported that the French club is keen to release both Neymar and Messi and revamp their squad around superstar Kylian Mbappe. For the unversed, Messi would still have about six more months in his contract by the time Qatar 2022 comes to an end. Thus, he would have the option of exploring the market before making the final call. Amid all this, there are reports also surfacing online that Messi's boyhood club Barcelona is eager to resign him. Can Cristiano Ronaldo join Lionel Messi at PSG? Man Utd star's agent offer CR7 to French club - Report

Manchester United remains the most successful English Premier League (EPL) team, having won the elite championship for most times (20). Nonetheless, they have struggled to move past the Sir Alex Ferguson era and have been a pale shadow of themselves, especially in the last few seasons.

In the last EPL season, Man United brought back Cristiano Ronaldo and assembled a star-studded line-up, however, still finished sixth and missed out on champions league football for 2022-23. With the upcoming edition to kick off soon, the new manager Erik ten Hag has a lot riding on his shoulders to turn the fortunes of the premier club. On Tuesday (July 12), Ronaldo-less United locked horns with Liverpool in what was an exhibition football match, held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.

Amid all this, Wion's Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo caught hold of Andy Cole -- one of the all-time greats of EPL and Man United legend -- ahead of the friendly encounter between the Red Devils and Liverpool. The two spoke on what needs to be done for the most successful team to get back to its usual standards.

Cole -- who is the third-highest goal-scorer of all-time (187) in Premier League history -- ended with 121 goals in 275 appearances for United. He was part of the team's treble-winning season, where he formed a lethal partnership with Dwight Yorke. Thus, the 50-year-old said, "There is always pressure on Man United manager. Man United needs to close the gap with man City and Liverpool. Last season was disappointing. But now, there is a new manager, new ideas and, hence, players need to look forward to progressing ahead. It's crazy we thinking like that cause first we used to look at winning, however, now we look to qualifying (for the champions league).

Man United finished sixth in the 2021/22 season and, thus, missed out on champions league football for 2022-23. Cole -- who has won a solitary CL title and five league titles with the Red Devils -- wants the forthcoming EPL season to be 'about progression of the club' and has his 'fingers crossed' for the same along with several other ardent fans of the Harry Maguire-led line-up.

Talking about the friendly tie between United and Liverpool, the former romped past their opposition in 4-0 with Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri being the goal-scorers.

United will now begin their campaign in the upcoming EPL season against Brighton on August 7. How far will the Red Devils go in EPL 2022/23 season? Only time will tell...

ALSO READ | Exclusive! He is a leader: Bryan Robson backs Ten Hag's decision to retain Harry Maguire as Man Utd captain Cole -- who is the third-highest goal-scorer of all-time (187) in Premier League history -- ended with 121 goals in 275 appearances for United.

There is no iota of doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are part of the all-time best footballers' club. The two superstars continue to make wakes and heads turn from time to time with their presence and overall abilities. While Ronaldo and Messi are considered in the same bracket, although many feel one is slightly better than the other, Real Madrid's former defender Cicinho has made an interesting remark.

Cicinho feels Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) striker Neymar is no less than Ronaldo and Messi. In a recent interaction, the 42-year-old lavished praise on his compatriot and told Jovem Pan Esportes, "Neymar is as good as Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, if not better."

Neymar shifted base from Barcelona to PSG in 2017. While many thought he would spearhead the French club's pursuit of the UEFA Champions League title, not much has gone his way representing the French club. So far, the 30-year-old Brazilian has made as many as 144 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 100 goals along with 60 assists. However, his goals, assists, and overall presence haven't helped the side win the elusive UEFA Champions League title, which was very much why he was roped in by the club in the first place.

As per many reports, it is believed that Neymar has been put up for sale by PSG in this summer transfer. While nothing concrete has come out, rumours have linked him with a possible move to Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United. Nonetheless, the suspense regarding Neymar's future at PSG continues and the picture will get clear in the coming weeks.

Cristiano Ronaldo has already been linked with a potential move to several top clubs across Europe amid reports he has made up his mind to leave Manchester United this summer. Ronaldo has reportedly already expressed his desire to leave and told United that he wants to spend the last few years of his career at a club competing in the Champions League to add more trophies to his illustrious cabinet.
