Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo issued an apology on social media after knocking a fan's phone to the ground in frustration post his club's 1-0 defeat against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday. After their disappointing exit from the Champions League, United have been winless in their last two matches in the Premier League as they drew 1-1 against Leicester City in their previous outing before slipping to a shambolic defeat against Everton on Saturday. Ronaldo, who failed to find the back of the net and rescue his side, was seemingly frustrated post the game and appeared to have smashed an Everton fan's phone to the ground while walking through the tunnel at the Goodison Park. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Ronaldo can be seen siping his hands towards the ground as he walked off the pitch post the game. As per claims of fans who were present at the stadium, Ronaldo knocked down the fan's phone out of his hand as it smashed to the ground. Ronaldo took to social media to apologise for his actions and also invited the fan to watch a game at Old Trafford. "I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sportsmanship," he added. <p>Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo will return for their Premier League clash with Everton after overcoming illness but defender Luke Shaw will be unavailable for up to three weeks, interim manager Ralf Rangnick said on Friday.</p>

<p>Ronaldo, United's top goalscorer this season with 12 league goals, will be back after missing their 1-1 draw with Leicester City last weekend while Shaw is set for a spell out due to follow-up treatment for a broken leg sustained in 2015.</p>

<p>"Cristiano is back again," Rangnick told reporters ahead of Saturday's game.</p>

<p>Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo are, undoubtedly, superstar athletes in the modern era. While one has conquered several highs in the gentlemen's game, both for Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the other has also taken football forward with his fitness, skills, talent, agility and presence, be it for Portugal or various club teams he has represented so far.</p>

<p>It is also not an unknown fact that Kohli is a huge Ronaldo fan. Recently, during an interaction, the 33-year-old Kohli shared what he will do if he woke up on one fine day and becomes Ronaldo. Stepping in as the superstar footballer, Kohli revealed what he will do in a recent video posted by the RCB Youtube channel.&nbsp;</p>

Portugal survive Turkey scare to move closer to World Cup

<p>Atletico Madrid knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League and moved into the quarter-finals after a 41st-minute header from Brazilian Renan Lodi gave them a 1-0 (2-1 aggregate) win at Old Trafford on Tuesday. It was a typical display of the kind of gritty defending and swift counter-attacking for which Diego Simeone`s Atletico side have been known while United, for all their pressure, were unable to create enough quality opportunities to get themselves the goal they needed.</p>

<p>United are left to focus on a Premier League campaign where they face a real battle to make the top four and earn a place in next year`s Champions League. After Saturday`s win over Tottenham Hotspur, inspired by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick, there was a positive mood around Old Trafford and the night began brightly for United with Anthony Elanga forcing a fine reflex save out of Jan Oblak with a near post flick from a Bruno Fernandes cross.</p>

<p>United`s Spanish keeper David de Gea then produced an outstanding diving save to push wide a long range effort from Rodrigo De Paul. Joao Felix then had the ball in the net, tapping in a cross from Marcos Llorente but the effort was ruled out for offside.</p>

<p>There was no reprieve though for United, though, when after a trademark Atletico counter-attack, a clever flick from Joao Felix found Antoine Griezmann whose cross was nodded in at the back post by Lodi.<br />
United argued that the move had followed a foul on Elanga deep in Atletico`s half but referee Slavko Vincic waved away their protests. Fernandes ended the half with a fierce shot that again tested Oblak to the full and raised hopes among the home support ahead of the second half. United, as expected, poured forward after the break in search of an equaliser but there was little design or craft to their attacks.</p>

Didn't expect him to score three goals: Ralf Rangnick on Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick against Spurs

<p>As Tom Brady walked onto the Old Trafford field to greet Cristiano Ronaldo after the Manchester United striker's hat-trick in Saturday's 3-2 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur there was a knowing smile on his face.</p>

<p>What would surely have most impressed former NFL great Brady, who retired last month aged 44, was not the stunning 25 metre opener nor the well-placed header to win the match nine minutes from time but the look of determination, bordering on anger, that the 37-year-old Ronaldo had throughout the game.</p>

<p>Brady was not like that. He kept his emotions well hidden for most of his Hall of Fame career as a quarterback for the New England Patriots and latterly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring with a record seven Super Bowl triumphs.</p>

<p>But while a fist-pump or a back-slap might have been as emotional as Brady managed publicly in most games, there was never any doubt he burned with the same passion and desire as fellow Greatest of All Time (GOAT) contender Ronaldo.</p>

<p>The Portuguese has scored 18 goals so far this season, after returning to United from Italian club Juventus, but there has been continuous chatter from pundits that he is a 'problem'&nbsp;for the club and more recently suggestions that all is not well in his rapport with interim manager Ralf Rangnick.</p>

<p>So there was an extra fire in Ronaldo's performance on Saturday and United's World Cup-winning French midfielder Paul Pogba addressed the issue head on.</p>

<p>"He has never been a problem. You have the best striker in history in our team, it cannot be a problem. Today he showed why he is Cristiano Ronaldo. The performance from him and all the team was very brilliant," he said.</p>

<p>“Everybody knows Cristiano – there’s no need to talk about him. That’s what he does. He didn’t play in the last game, but he comes back and scores three goals. Everybody’s happy."</p>

<p>DECISIVE RONALDO</p>

<p>Tottenham's Italian manager Antonio Conte had no doubt about the impact of the five-times Ballon d'Or winner on the game.</p>

<p>"Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the two best players in the world in this era. When you play against this type of player, they’re decisive. Without Cristiano Ronaldo, for United it wouldn’t have been a good night," he said.</p>

As Tom Brady walked onto the Old Trafford field to greet Cristiano Ronaldo after the Manchester United striker's hat-trick in Saturday's 3-2 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur there was a knowing smile on his face. What would surely have most impressed former NFL great Brady, who retired last month aged 44, was not the stunning 25 metre opener nor the well-placed header to win the match nine minutes from time but the look of determination, bordering on anger, that the 37-year-old Ronaldo had throughout the game. Brady was not like that. He kept his emotions well hidden for most of his Hall of Fame career as a quarterback for the New England Patriots and latterly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring with a record seven Super Bowl triumphs. ALSO READ: Premier League: Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick helps Man United secure 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur But while a fist-pump or a back-slap might have been as emotional as Brady managed publicly in most games, there was never any doubt he burned with the same passion and desire as fellow Greatest of All Time (GOAT) contender Ronaldo. The Portuguese has scored 18 goals so far this season, after returning to United from Italian club Juventus, but there has been continuous chatter from pundits that he is a 'problem' for the club and more recently suggestions that all is not well in his rapport with interim manager Ralf Rangnick. So there was an extra fire in Ronaldo's performance on Saturday and United's World Cup-winning French midfielder Paul Pogba addressed the issue head on. "He has never been a problem. You have the best striker in history in our team, it cannot be a problem. Today he showed why he is Cristiano Ronaldo. The performance from him and all the team was very brilliant," he said. “Everybody knows Cristiano – there’s no need to talk about him. That’s what he does. He didn’t play in the last game, but he comes back and scores three goals. Everybody’s happy." DECISIVE RONALDO Tottenham's Italian manager Antonio Conte had no doubt about the impact of the five-times Ballon d'Or winner on the game. "Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the two best players in the world in this era. When you play against this type of player, they’re decisive. Without Cristiano Ronaldo, for United it wouldn’t have been a good night," he said. But Belgian De Bruyne restored City's advantage finding the target after Phil Foden had powered into the area and seen his shot parried out by David De Gea. City dominated after the break and made it 3-1 when De Bruyne struck a corner deep to the edge of the box and Mahrez met it with a first-time drive which took a slight deflection off Harry Maguire. Mahrez completed the victory with a goal that was initially flagged as offside but VAR found Alex Telles had played the Algerian onside before he latched on to an Ilkay Gundogan pass and blasted in off the shoulder of De Gea. The scoreline was a fair reflection of City's dominance and manager Pep Guardiola was full of praise for his team. "It was excellent from the first minute. We played really well and had to be patient in the first step," said the Spaniard. "Football is emotions. It's tactics, definitely, but it's also emotions. Without the ball, we are a team with desire and passion to regain the ball from the first minute to the 90th," he added. Rangnick felt his tactics had been the right way to take on City before the gulf in class became evident. For us it was clear if we want a chance to win the game we have to do a lot of running. You have to be in attacking and hunting mode and we did that in the first half. The third goal killed us off in the end," he said. "It's difficult, if we attack them very high there is a lot of negative running you need to do. The third goal is a brilliantly taken corner and it is almost impossible to defend that. The second half they were the better team and they showed the quality they have. We struggled especially after they scored the third one."
