Paris Olympics 2024: Who is Swapnil Kusale, third Indian shooter to win bronze in French capital?

Indian shooters have been on a rampage in the Paris Olympics 2024 after Swapnil Kusale became the third shooter to win a medal in the French capital on Thursday (August 1). Swapnil joined Manu Bhaker (two medals) and Sarbjot Singh to have won medals at the ongoing Paris Olympics and waved the Indian tricolour on the Olympic podium. Born in the small village of Kambalwadi in the royal city of Kolhapur,Maharashtra, Swapnil hails from an agricultural family supported by his father. He was born on 6 August 1995 and was enrolled in the Maharashtra government's Krida Prabodini sports program by his father at 14 in 2009. This is where he took his first lessonsin shooting having also had an interest in cycling in his earlydays. His father supported his dreams of winning a medal and becoming a shooter by taking loans and enrolling him in the prestigiousBhonsala Military School in Nashik.

"I admire MS Dhoni for the person that he is. My sport requires me to be as calm and patient as he is on the field. I also relate to his story as I am a ticket collector like he was," Swapnil said after winning the bronze medal.
