India's star shuttler Lakshya Sen will be up against Malaysia'sZii Jia Leeon Monday(Aug 5) with a bronze medal up for grabs at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 edition. The young badminton star player started the mega event brilliantly, however, lost to Denmark's Viktor Axelson in the semifinals on Sunday (Aug 4) to miss out on playing the final. The 22-year-old had the lead in the opening two games versus the Tokyo gold medallist Axelson, however, he failed to seize the momentum on both occasions and lost 20-22, 14-21. While he will still be gutted to miss the golden opportunity versus Axelson, Lakshya will be desperate to end his campaign on a high, with a bronze medal and add to India's tally in Paris 2024.
All eyes will be on Lakshya to win his maiden Olympic medal on Monday. In terms of a head-to-head battle with Lee, the Indian has an edge over his opponent. In five games, Lakshya has beaten Lee on four occasions, with the latest coming in the quarterfinals of the 2024All England Open (winning20-22, 21-16, 21-19).
