IPL 2024: Here's why Gujarat Titans will wear lavender jersey against Kolkata Knight Riders

Gujarat Titans (GT) will be withouttheir usual jersey- dark bluewith yellow highlights- during their home match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 13 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Instead, the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions will be wearing a lavender jersey they had worn last year as well, to show solidarity with cancer patients.
“The Gujarat Titans are taking a stand against cancer, stepping onto the field donning special lavender jerseys for the second year in a row,” read the statement released by the franchise.
“This gesture will serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care for improving outcomes in patients of cancer," it added.
Other teams to wear special jersey
Titans will be the fourth team after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) to sport a second jersey during the tournament.

LSG wore a green and maroon jersey during the match against KKR at Eden Gardens in Kolkata to pay tribute to the city and its famous football club, Mohun Bagun Super Giant.LSG is owned by Sanjiv Goenka's RPSG Group, which also owns the iconic football club, currently plying its trade in the Indian Super League (ISL)
Afterwards, RR wore an all-pink jersey against RCB on April 6, as part of the 'Pink Promise ' initiative for women empowerment in rural areas.
Meanwhile, RCB carried their yearly tradition of going all-green to raise awareness about the environment and global warming.
Titans currently haveeight points from 11 games, and find themselves at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table.
But they still have a mathematical, albeit slim, chance of making it to the playoffs, unlike ninth-placed Mumbai Indians.
However, to make it to the top-4, a string of results will have to go in Gujarat's favour who will also need to win their remaining two matches.
