Pranab Mukherjee will complete his five-year presidential tenure thisJuly 25. The outgoing president is expected to be given a farewell onJuly 23by both the Houses of Parliament.

Mukherjee was elected in 2012 during the United Progressive Alliance's (UPA) government. Even after having a long history with the Congress party, he managed to keep up with the Modi-led government.

Recently, Mukherjee characterised his working relationship with PM Modi, saying: "We have acted in close cooperation. Surely, there have been divergences of views. But we have been able to keep those divergences to ourselves.It did not affect the relationship between the President and the Prime Minister."

The outgoing President has been a boon to Indiawith the cooperation he showed during his five-year reign.

Some facts about Pranab Mukherjee:

-Pranab Mukherjee loves gardening: So much so that he goes for a morning walk in the Mughal Gardens and shares a great interest in nature and horticultural activities.

-Pranab Mukherjee's perpetual interest in finance politics: The President has on various occasions questioned the finance ministry upheld by the Finance Minister,Arun Jaitley. He has been very particular about calling Jaitley to his office for consultation on various issues.

-Pranab Mukherjee is a book lover: Though he hardly gets any time from his busy schedule, Pranab Da interest in literature is immense.

-Pranab Mukherjee, as India's President, is also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces: Pranab Mukherjee has time and again recognised and appreciated the Armed forces personnel.

-Mukherjee as priest: In October 2013, Pranab carried out the Durga Puja rituals in his ancestral home OF Kolkata. Mukherjee holds a very deep sentiment with the festival.
