The man, identified as Atikur Rahman, a resident of Manipur’s Jiribam district, had visited a private hospital in Silchar for treatment of an infection but found after the biopsy that his genitals had been removed without his consent, said the NDTV report. Rahman lodged a police complaint, accusing the doctor of the private hospital of performing unauthorised surgery to remove his genitals during a routine biopsy procedure.&nbsp;<h2>Lodges police complaint against doctor</h2>&nbsp;In the police complaint, he has alleged that a doctor at the private hospital surgically removed his genitals during what was supposed to be a routine biopsy without his consent.The authorities of the hospital were not available for any reaction to the incident, and the doctor who performed the surgery is also missing and not responding to calls or messages, the NDTV report added.&nbsp;In his complaint, Atikur Rahman alleged, “On June 19, I went to a private hospital in Silchar after an infection in my genitals. The doctor advised me to go for a biopsy test. During my biopsy test, they surgically removed my genitals without my consent. When I woke up after the surgery, I found my genitals had been removed. When I asked the doctor, he didn’t give a satisfactory answer.”&nbsp;<h2>Appeals to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma</h2>&nbsp;Rahman has appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene promptly and ensure accountability in the alleged unauthorised removal of his genitals.“Now, I am helpless and don’t know what to do. My life is finished. I tried to contact the doctor several times, but he didn’t respond to my calls. I am in mental distress and have a problem due to the surgery,” he added.

The student, who is in her second year of a law degree, told a TV channel that college alumnus Monojit Mishra, who is referred to as ‘Mango dada’ in his influence groups, molested and threatened her two years ago. The student revealed that the assault on her in October 2023 was similar in modus operandi to the rape case last month. She was locked in a room and molested by Mishra soon after she had attended an event organised by Mishra with her fellow students, she said in a phone call with India Today.&nbsp;<h2>‘Pulled me by hair, started undressing me’</h2>&nbsp;The student recounted that she received a phone call from her father during the event, and she stepped into a nearby vacant room at the venue to speak with him. “Just as I was about to step out [after the call], I saw Monojit enter and lock the door from inside. He was visibly drunk and had also consumed ‘weed’ (marijuana). I asked him to let me leave, but he ignored me and kept coming closer,” the student told the channel.Mishra, who is a former youth wing leader of West Bengal’s ruling party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), assaulted her inside the room when “other students were dancing and enjoying” outside. He used a remote control that he was carrying to turn up the music volume outside to muffle her cries, she said.&nbsp;“He pulled me by my hair, and dragged me to the balcony of the room… started undressing me… Fortunately, a senior female student began knocking on the door, and in a hurry, he fled the room,” she told the channel.Several alleged criminal activities by Monojit Mishra have come to light since the gang rape case was filed, as other victims have apparently gathered the courage to come out now that he is in the police net.&nbsp;<h2>Cops take accused for crime scene reconstruction&nbsp;</h2>&nbsp;Meanwhile, police on Friday took the four arrested men for crime scene reconstruction. The main accused, Monojit Mishra, current students Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed, and security guard Pinaki Banerjee were taken to the campus early morning, around 4.30 am, and the process took four hours. The main accused are currently remanded to police custody till July 8.The complaint by the victim says that Mishra called her to offer her a student union position but took her to a room adjacent to the college union office, where he allegedly forced himself on her after she rejected his advances and a marriage proposal.&nbsp;<h2>Mishra turned college union room into a ‘bar’ every evening</h2>&nbsp;Monojit Mishra, the key accused in the Kolkata law college rape case, had turned the union room into a bar and a “party” place, his batchmate told mediapersons on Friday.Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the student said that Mishra used to drink alcohol with his friends in the union room every evening.The woman said that Mishra used to harass women, and had once thrashed a security guard. He used to threaten to shoot the college staff over small issues, she said.Mishra now faces multiple police complaints against him, including ripping off the dress of a woman student in July 2019 and molesting a woman in Swinhoe Lane in March 2022.

Neenan has in the past represented families in several large airline disasters, including the MH17 and MH370 crashes. He says the airline is potentially trying to save at least £100 million ($136 million), and "this is the real horror." Neenan, who is a partner at UK law firm Stewarts, has called for an investigation into the airline's behaviour. Following a massive backlash from the people over the ban on the use of End of Life vehicles in the national capital, the Delhi government on Thursday (Jul 3) wrote to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), saying that the fuel ban rule on old vehicles is not feasible due to technological challenges and complex systems. Speaking at a press conference, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that there was discontent among the people over the move and the government stood with them.&nbsp;In April, the CAQM issued guidelines for fuel stations stating that end-of-life (EOL) vehicles should not be given fuel from July 1. These include diesel vehicles that are older than 10 years and petrol vehicles that are older than 15 years. The ban applies to all ELVs, whether registered in Delhi or not.&nbsp;“We will clean the environment of Delhi and will not allow the vehicles of Delhi to be confiscated. This is the resolution of our Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta ji, towards the people of Delhi, this is her promise to the people of Delhi... It will be better if this system is implemented in the entire NCR and then it is implemented in Delhi. We are also looking for a solution that the vehicles should not be banned on the basis of age, but should be banned considering their pollution capacity,” Sirsa said.&nbsp;He added, “We have informed them that the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras that were installed are not a robust system, and there are still many challenges with them. Technical glitches, non-working sensors, and malfunctioning speakers, all these challenges are there. It has not been integrated with the NCR data yet. It is not able to identify HSRP plates. We also said that such a law has not been implemented in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad and the rest of NCR till now.”&nbsp;In the letter to the CAQM asking to hold the ban, the minister wrote, “We urge the Commission to put the implementation of Direction No. 89 on hold with immediate effect till the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system is seamlessly integrated across the entire NCR. We are also looking for a solution that the vehicles should not be banned on the basis of age, but should be banned considering their pollution capacity,” Sirsa said. He added, “We have informed them that the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras that were installed are not a robust system, and there are still many challenges with them. Technical glitches, non-working sensors, and malfunctioning speakers, all these challenges are there. It has not been integrated with the NCR data yet. It is not able to identify HSRP plates. We also said that such a law has not been implemented in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad and the rest of NCR till now.” In the letter to the CAQM asking to hold the ban, the minister wrote, “We urge the Commission to put the implementation of Direction No. 89 on hold with immediate effect till the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system is seamlessly integrated across the entire NCR. We are confident that the ongoing multi-pronged efforts of the Delhi Government will achieve substantial improvements in air quality.” The ban, which was proposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in 2014, was aimed at controlling the air pollution in Delhi. However, it has resulted in public anger, who argued that vehicles should not be banned based on their age but on their pollution emission.

The chief of the Indian space agency made these remarks during the formal announcement of the 23rd National Space Science Symposium (NSSS) that would be hosted by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) in 2026.&nbsp;The NSSS is India’s flagship event for space science. Held once in two years, the event brings together experts from ISRO, academia, autonomous institutes, and research institutes.&nbsp;&nbsp;Explaining the importance of the event, ISRO’s Scientific Secretary Ganesh Pillai said, NSSS is a key platform for researchers, scientists, and academicians. It spans multiple domains, including atmospheric science, near-earth space, the solar system, astronomy, and astrophysics. It covers all aspects of space science—from surface to cosmos.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the event, new science discoveries are unveiled, tech advancements are discussed, and it is crucial for exchanging scientific results, he added. The scientific sessions at the NSSS will witness the unveiling of research data from ISRO’s space science and exploratory missions.&nbsp;India is looking to make a huge investment and build our Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) that weighs 52 tonnes. Such initiatives would be justified only when we do meaningful and useful science. Further, he contemplated on the need for assigning an ISRO Project Director to oversee science experiments and concentrate exclusively on that domain.&nbsp;“During my visits, I witnessed that foreign universities are doing a different class of science experiments, likewise, Indian laboratories need to give due importance to science,” he added. Dr Chandra said that the promoter stake will increase to 18.39 per cent and this will in turn boost investors’ confidence. ZEEL’s promoter shareholding stood at 3.99 per cent, as of March 31. Dr Chandra also shared future mega plans and recalled the difficult period when the promoter stake had to be sold after the company failed to repay debt.&nbsp;Dr Chandra further said in the exclusive interview with Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi that the promoter’s decision to invest Rs 2,237 crores (approximately $262 million) in the company is proof of his unwavering commitment to the company and its shareholders.&nbsp;<h2>Past struggle and resolve to repay debt</h2>&nbsp;Dr Chandra recalled the period when he first failed to fulfill his commitment to the financial markets on January 25, 2019, and had to sell a 44 per cent stake in ZEE to pay off debt of over Rs 40,000 crore (approx. $4.7 billion). The sale brought the promoters’ stake in ZEE down to just 4 per cent.The chairman emeritus admitted that the group’s other troubles, especially the mistakes in the infrastructure business, also affected ZEE Entertainment.“The infrastructure business was a big mistake, which was handed over to the wrong people,” he said, adding that after paying off the debt, he is now putting the recovery amount back into the company.&nbsp;<h2>Booster dose of Rs 2,237 crore</h2>&nbsp;The board of ZEE recently took a historic decision, on JP Morgan’s advice, and approved the issuance of 16,95,03,400 convertible warrants to the promoter group.The promoter group will invest a total of Rs 22,37,44,48,800 in the company, and after this investment, the total stake of promoters will increase to 18.39 per cent.Dr Chandra revealed that the most encouraging thing about this deal is that the promoters are buying shares at a price of Rs 132 per warrant, which is more than the regulatory price (Rs 128.58).This is the biggest proof of how much confidence they have in the future of the company, Dr Chandra said.&nbsp;<h2>‘Double benefit’ for shareholders</h2>&nbsp;The increased promoter holding will benefit the shareholders and result in a ‘double benefit’ for them. Firstly, the shareholders were uncomfortable with the promoter’s holding of only a 4 per cent stake in a large and complex business like ZEE, and so an increase in the promoters’ stake will boost investors’ confidence.Secondly, the infusion of Rs 2,237 crore (approx. $262 million) will act as a ‘booster dose’ for the company and give momentum to growth.&nbsp;&nbsp;This money will be used mainly for growth in content and technology, strengthening the balance sheet, and rapid implementation of the strategic growth plan, thereby putting the company in a better position to compete with big competitors like Reliance and Disney, Dr Chandra said.&nbsp;<h2>What’s the roadmap for the future?</h2>&nbsp;Dr Chandra said that there is still money to be paid in some accounts, which is being paid on the due date.
