Rajnikanth announces entry in politics

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth today announced his much-awaited entry into politics.

The legendary Tamil actor, who has a cult status in Tamil Nadu, said he will form his own political party in the next assembly elections and contest all constituencies in Tamil Nadu.

"My political entry is definite. In next assembly elections I will form a party and will contest all constituencies in Tamil Nadu," Rajinikanth said.

J&K: 1 soldier killed as terrorists attack CRPF camp in Pulwama

One soldier of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed and two others injured after two-three terrorists stormed a CRPF training center in Awantipora town in Kashmir's Pulwama district.

The terrorists first lobbed grenades and then began firing to enter the center, ANI reported.

BJP fumes after Hardik asks Nitin Patel to join Congress

The BJP rejected firebrand Patidar leader Hardik Patel's proposal saying that their party leaders are loyal and cannot be lured by anyone. 

This comes following Patel's offer to Gujarat deputy chief minister Nitin Patel to quit BJP along with 10 MLA's and join Congress for a more deserving position. 

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that Hardik's statement should not be given attention as "he is fishing in troubled waters".

BJP leader Murlidhar Rao also slammed Hardik and said that BJP is party of loyal and honest leaders unlike Congress.

Padmavati: No cuts proposed, only 5 modifications, clarifies Prasoon Joshi

The CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi has clarified that they had suggested only 5 modifications and "no cuts" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama Padmavati. The modifications include changing the disclaimer clearly to one that does not claim historical accuracy, changing the title to "Padmavat" from "Padmavati", modifications in the song "Ghoomar", modifying the incorrect/misleading reference to historical place and adding a disclaimer that the film, in no manner, subscribes to the practice of Sati and doesn't seek to glorify it.

3 reportedly killed in ongoing protests in Iran, government blocks internet

At least three Iranian protestors were reportedly shot dead by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Saturday night in the ongoing protests.

There was no immediate confirmation of the incident, which reportedly took place in Doroud, in the Lorestan province, media reports said.  

Demonstrators attacked a town hall in the Iranian capital Saturday as protests spilled into a third night despite government warnings against any further "illegal gatherings" and moves to cut off the internet on mobiles.
