Reacting to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's remark that "development has gone mad", Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday that "unke dimaag par taras aata hai".

"Development can slow down, it can speed up, it can stop, but does it ever go mad?" Singh said.

"And what do you call someone who says that?" he added.

Gandhi had made his remark in October.

He had also said the "Gujarat model" -- which has been accused of creating high growth but not jobs -- is a failure.

Rajnath, who was addressing a rally in Chaurasi, Gujarat on Sunday, also accused the Congress of playing divisive politics for the sake of votes.

"A terrorist has no religion, but for votes, they (Congress) want to divide the people on the basis of caste and religion, so that they may form a government," he said.

Gandhi meanwhile had on Sunday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not providing the women of poll-bound Gujarat with security, education, or nutrition.
