Modi to visit Brunei on Sept 3; in a first ever visit by Indian Prime Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on official visits to Brunei and Singapore from September 3 to 5, at the invitation of Brunei and Singapore leaders.
On his first leg visit, PM Modi will visit Brunei on September 3, marking the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister.
The visit also coincides with the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between India and Brunei.
Brunei is a key partner in India's 'Act East' Policy and its vision of Indo-Pacific.
Moreover, PM Modi's visit will further strengthen India's cooperation with Brunei in all existing sectors including defense cooperation, trade & investment, energy, and space technology.

Visit to Singapore
After concluding his visit to Brunei, PM Modi will begin his second leg ofvisit to Singapore on September 4, at the invitation of PM Lawrence Wong.
The two leaders are expected to review the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Furthermore, during the visit, PM Modi will also call on the President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and interact with the leadership.
He is also scheduled to meet with business leaders from Singapore.

Earlier this month, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the second India-Singapore Ministerial Dialogue (ISMR). The two nations discussed cooperation in digital, healthcare, connectivity, skill development, and advanced manufacturing.
