A techie took to Reddit to speak about a job interview in Bengaluru in which she was asked to use the programming language CSS to draw the Indian flag and the Ashok Chakra.

In her post, the techie said that she was interviewed for a job at a "small company" that was located close to her house.

"I have a total of 10 years of experience in frontend technologies like angular, javascript, typescript, HTML, CSS etc. Generally, at this experience level, people ask more real-life scenario-based questions or coding skills to test logical thinking or some advanced concepts," wrote the user, while explaining her expectations from the interview.

The user said that she was disappointed by the interviewer's demand to use CSS for drawing the Indian flag after asking her "theoretical questions" on CSS.

"I drew it anyway. I find this question completely absurd. Then she asked me to make Ashoka chakra in that. I made it. Then she asked me to draw spikes inside the Ashok chakra. There I lost it," she said.

The techie then asked the interviewer why she was being asked such questions to which she got the answer that her knowledge was being tested.

"Now if you are a frontend developer, you will see such questions don't make any sense. In fact we used to get such questions during college practical exams. I get really irritated. And I quit my interview," the user wrote.

Here's how users reacted to her post

At the end of her post, the interviewee asked others if they felt the interviewers needed to ask relevant questions based on the experience of the candidate.

A lot of users agreed with the frustration of the techie while some thought the interviewer was just testing her.

"I think this is a good question for freshers. For someone with 10 years of experience, this would be totally unexpected and unnecessary," said one user.

"Maybe she was just testing when you would lose your temperament (sic)," commented another user.
