India’s National Capital Region (NCR), including Delhi and adjoining areas, witnessed a sudden change of weather on Friday (Apr 26) as heavy clouds appeared in the sky. A dust stormalsofollowed, as the weather department predicted moderate rain and gusty winds of 40–70 km/h in the region.

As per reports, a hailstormwas anticipatedto pass through, and rainwas expectedin the nearby towns of Rajasthan, Manesar, and Gohana, Haryanainthe coming hours.

The rains havebeen causedby Western Disturbance owingto a cyclonic circulation over south Iran in the middle and upper tropospheric levels.

Due to the phenomenon, a similar weather is likely to persist in the region onApril 27as well.Thisbrought relief to the residents of the NCRwho have been battling an intense heat wave over the last week.

Besides Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh might also very likely receive isolated rainfall on Friday and Saturday, said the India Meteorological Department.

Heavy rainfall in some areas of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad is also expected on April 27 and 28, according to the forecast by the IMD.

Himachal Pradesh may also witness similar weather onApril 27.

In this period, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthanare likely toexperience strong surface winds of approximately 25-35 kmph during April 26-28.

Northeastern states of Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradeshare also expectedto receive rainfall onApril 28.

Heatwave persists in somestates

The IMD has predicted a severe heat wave for Odisha and isolated pockets over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the next five days.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, during the next five days, Western Uttar Pradesh during April 26-30, and Konkan during April 27-30, are predicted to witness heat wave conditions, said IMD in its prediction.
