The bomb threat was sent by email to the office of Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta, officials said. The first threat was received on the Assembly’s official email at 7:28 am, followed by another email sent to the Speaker at 7:49 am, just 21 minutes later.
The Delhi assembly received a bomb threat on Tuesday, with the warning of blowing up the building and a Delhi metro station. The threat was sent by email to the office of Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta, officials said. The first threat was received on the Assembly’s official email at 7:28 am, followed by another email sent to the Speaker at 7:49 am, just 21 minutes later. The messages came only hours before Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was set to present the Delhi budget 2026, according to a report in TOI.
Both messages mentioned that a bomb would explode at the Delhi assembly at 1.11 pm, and another would explode at a Delhi Metro station at 9.11 pm. The threat emails also referenced the Khalistan Referendum. Following the email warning, a sniffer dog squad was later deployed in the vicinity of the Delhi Assembly as part of intensified security checks.
No explosives were found
Official sources verified that the threatening emails originated from a Gmail account, prompting security forces to carry out extensive sweeps of the site. Fortunately, no explosives were discovered during the search.
The communication specifically mentioned several prominent figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Additionally, the list included Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
