Arvind Kejriwal resignation: AAP to unveil new Delhi CM tomorrow. Here're the top contenders

With Arvind Kejriwal expected to step down as Delhi’s Chief Minister, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will choose his successor at a legislative party meeting on Tuesday (September 17). The meeting is set to take place at the Chief Minister’s residence at 11:00 AM, as announced by the party.
Kejriwal is scheduled to meet Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena later at 4:30 PM to formally submit his resignation. The new leader chosen by the AAP inthemeeting will also present theclaim to the Chief Minister’s position simultaneously.
Sandeep Pathak, a senior AAP leader, told ANI, “The next Chief Minister of Delhi will be decided within the next 1-2 days. A legislative party meeting will select one... Arvind Kejriwal is not drawn to power; he values his honour the most."
On Monday, AAP leaders, including MP Raghav Chadha, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kailash Gahlot, and Atishi, visited Kejriwal’s residence. The party is also holding a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) ahead of Kejriwal’s expected resignation.
Kejriwal had earlier revealed his plan to resign after being released from Tihar jail on Friday. On Sunday, he declared that he would not resume the role of Chief Minister until the people of Delhi deemed him “honest.” He has also proposed that the city’s elections be moved up to November, instead of the originally scheduled February timeline. The BJP, however, criticised his announcement, calling it a “PR stunt” aimed at repairing his public image.

Who will succeed Kejriwal as Delhi's CM?
Following Kejriwal’s decision to resign, speculation has grown over who will take his place. Several senior AAP leaders, including Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kailash Gahlot, Gopal Rai, and Imran Hussain, are considered possible candidates.
There is also talk that Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, might be in the running for the post. Some party insiders suggest that the next Chief Minister could be from the Dalit community. Kejriwal has made it clear that Manish Sisodia, his former deputy, will not be taking over the role. He said that someone from within the AAP will hold the position until elections are conducted.
