11 Kuki militants killed in clashes with CRPF in Manipur, one jawan injured

At least 11 Kuki militants were killed and one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was injured in armed clashes at Jakuradhor Karong in Borobekra Subdivision of Jiribam in the Indian state of Manipur on Monday (Nov. 11).
According to local media, the encounter started after a massive attack was launched by the suspected Kuki militants on a police station. A relief camp for internally displaced people was also reported to be situated next to the police station.
The militants may have tried to target the camp too, as per reports.
Till now, more than 200 people have lost their lives and thousands have become homeless in ethnic violence which broke out between Meiteis and Kukis in Manipur in May last year.

The police station in Borobekra, Jiribam, has been targeted many times in recent months.

After the police station was attacked, the suspected Kuki insurgents spread into a small settlement in Jakurador Karong and started putting houses on fire as gunfight took place simultaneously.
Ethnic tension in Manipur
A farmer, who was working in the fields in Imphal, was reportedly injured on Monday morning (Nov 11) when militants opened fire from hilltop positions close by.
This was the third day in a row when farmers working in the fields in Imphal Valley were attacked by militants on hills.

The injured farmer was admitted to Yaingangpokpi PHC for treatment and is currently out of danger.
Several arms, ammunition and IEDs were also seized by the security forces during search operations carried out in hill and valley districts of Manipur in the last three days, said Assam Rifles in a statement.
