Music producer and songwriter Benny Blanco has revealed that he is travelling across the Atlantic by boat to visit his wife, Selena Gomez, in London, saying his long-standing fear of flying led him to choose the sea route instead. Blanco shared the update in a social media video, showing himself aboard a ship in the middle of the ocean. The video featured on-screen text that read, "POV: ur traveling across the atlantic in the titanic to see ur wife bc ur scared of flying." He captioned the post, "the things we do for love," with Sam Cooke's 'Nothing Can Change This Love' playing in the background. Gomez has been in London since May filming Hulu's 'Only Murders in the Building'. She has regularly shared updates from the set on Instagram, including a post about her "first week in London." The couple have also acknowledged the distance publicly during Gomez's stay in the UK. On June 10, the singer posted several photos with Blanco on Instagram and wrote, “distance means so little when someone means so much.... @itsbennyblanco mish you bb.”

In an industry where overnight success often grabs headlines, Yash’s story has always been about the long game.
Before he became Rocky Bhai, before KGF turned him into a household name across the country, and long before conversations around “pan-India cinema” became commonplace, Yash was simply a young man from Karnataka trying to find a place in the movies. Eighteen years since his film debut, his career stands as one of steady growth rather than instant stardom, built on patience, calculated choices and an unwavering belief in his craft.

A Dream Bigger Than His Circumstances

Born Naveen Kumar Gowda, Yash grew up in Karnataka in a family with no connections to the film industry. His father worked as a bus driver, while his mother looked after the family. Cinema, for him, wasn’t an inheritance, it was an aspiration.

Like many actors before him, he found his footing on television, where he slowly learned the rhythms of performance before making his film debut with Moggina Manasu in 2008. Although it wasn’t a leading role, it marked the beginning of a journey that would eventually reshape Kannada cinema’s place on the national stage.

The years that followed were spent earning his name with films like Rocky, Modalasala, Rajadhani, Kirataka and Drama that steadily expanded his audience and established him as a performer who could balance romance, action and comedy with equal ease.

The Rise of a Kannada Star

Before he became synonymous with larger-than-life action spectacles, Yash was one of Kannada cinema’s most dependable leading men.

With films such as Googly, Gajakesari, Raja Huli, Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari, Masterpiece and Santhu Straight Forward, he built a filmography that appealed to both urban and family audiences. These weren’t just commercial successes; they reflected an actor steadily refining his screen presence while remaining deeply rooted in Kannada cinema.

By the middle of the 2010s, Yash had already become one of the industry’s biggest stars. What no one could have predicted was that his next film would change far more than his own career.

When Rocky Bhai Became a Phenomenon

KGF: Chapter 1 arrived in 2018 and altered the trajectory of Indian cinema.

At a time when regional films were beginning to travel beyond linguistic boundaries, KGF demonstrated just how universal a well-told story could be. At its centre was Rocky Bhai, a character whose swagger, vulnerability and ambition struck a chord with audiences across languages.

The film introduced millions of viewers to Yash, while KGF: Chapter 2 transformed that recognition into superstardom. Crossing ₹1,000 crore at the global box office, the sequel became one of Indian cinema’s biggest commercial successes and cemented Rocky Bhai as one of the defining screen characters of the decade.

Dialogues such as “Violence… Violence… Violence… I don’t like it. I avoid. But violence likes me. I can’t avoid,” and “Powerful people come from powerful places. That’s not true. Powerful people make places powerful,” continue to be quoted years after the films’ release, becoming a part of popular culture.

Also read: GDN release date: R Madhavan's biographical drama to arrive next month

The Choice to Wait

For many actors, a blockbuster is followed by a race to sign more films. Following KGF: Chapter 2, he stayed away from the screen for several years, choosing not to rush into another project simply to maintain momentum.

Stepping Behind the Camera

The next chapter of Yash’s career isn’t defined only by acting. With Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, he has taken on greater creative responsibility as a writer and producer through Monster Mind Creations, alongside director Geetu Mohandas.

Born Naveen Kumar Gowda, Yash grew up in Karnataka in a family with no connections to the film industry. His father worked as a bus driver, while his mother looked after the family. Cinema, for him, wasn’t an inheritance, it was an aspiration.

A Dream Bigger Than His Circumstances Born Naveen Kumar Gowda, Yash grew up in Karnataka in a family with no connections to the film industry. The Rise of a Kannada Star Before he became synonymous with larger-than-life action spectacles, Yash was one of Kannada cinema’s most dependable leading men. When Rocky Bhai Became a Phenomenon KGF: Chapter 1 arrived in 2018 and altered the trajectory of Indian cinema.

She was recently crowned Miss World Pakistan 2026 at a ceremony in Lahore. This marks a huge step for Pakistan’s presence in international beauty pageants. That said, this is not the first time the country has participated in such events. Over the years, the South Asian nation has participated in Miss Universe, Miss Earth, Miss Global, and other pageants. Iqbal, a business and economics graduate who is pursuing her master’s, has also competed in several contests.

Also read: FIFA World Cup 2026: Shakira, Burna Boy to headline halftime show ahead of final

Pakistan’s growing presence in beauty pageants

In recent years, Pakistan’s participation in international pageants has increased, a platform the country had stayed away from for many years. One of the biggest moments came in 2023 when Erica Robin became the first woman to represent Pakistan at Miss Universe. During the swimsuit round, which is considered one of the core segments, she famously wore a burkini, one of the major highlights of the event. However, her participation drew backlash and was not supported by any Pakistan-based company.

Also read: Christopher Nolan's 'hidden' Indian threads: From Bhagavad Gita in Oppenheimer, to Himesh Patel in The Odyssey

The Miss Universe Pakistan franchise was run by the Yugen Group. Why so late?

Pakistan is officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the country’s core values are rooted in religion. Given its socio-political and religious values, there was effectively an "iron curtain" preventing women from participating in pageants, where public presentation is central, something that has traditionally been highly restricted. Historically, the Miss World pageant heavily emphasised the traditional swimsuit round, and this is where, for decades, it had kept the country from participating in the event.

What's changing?

For the longest time, the country and its women maintained a distance from such global platforms. But now, with a changing paradigm, young girls are refusing to be excluded. They see these platforms as a way to build their careers, represent their thoughts, and raise issues related to their society and culture. While they do face the reality of potential backlash from politicians and conservative groups, these events are now happening with more support from private organisations.

Aniqa Jamal Iqbal, 24, will represent the country on the global stage. This will be a historic moment as it marks Pakistan’s first participation in the pageant’s 73-year history.

Pakistan set to debut in Miss World competition After decades of waiting, Aniqa Jamal Iqbal will take part in the contest. Also read: FIFA World Cup 2026: Shakira, Burna Boy to headline halftime show ahead of final Pakistan’s growing presence in beauty pageants In recent years, Pakistan’s participation in international pageants has increased, a platform the country had stayed away from for many years. Also read: Christopher Nolan's 'hidden' Indian threads: From Bhagavad Gita in Oppenheimer, to Himesh Patel in The Odyssey The Miss Universe Pakistan franchise was run by the Yugen Group. The move drew strong criticism from Islamic scholars and politicians. The organisation supporting this fourthcoming contest is the Miss Pakistan World Organisation Debut after 73 years.
