‘’She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted. She taught us that family is everything. She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments. She showed me how to face life’s challenges with resilience and faith. Mom, thank you for every sacrifice you made, every piece of wisdom you shared, and every moment you loved us so completely. I will miss our daily talks, your smile, your laughter… Our hearts are broken.'' Despite her age, she remained a crucial part of the show and was often part of the conversation, too.

Kim Kardashian pays tribute, says 'You are the best of us.'

Soon after Kris announced the death of her mom, Kim penned down an emotional note with a bunch of throwback photos. Calling her grandma, the woman, who taught her, what meant to be a hardworking businesswoman, she wrote,''You gave me my very first job at your store in San Diego and taught me lessons about work ethic, strength, and confidence that I’ve carried with me ever since. You always believed in me, championed me, and were my safe place. You truly were the matriarch of our family, and your love is woven into all of us. I know you’re at peace now. Give Papa Harry, Aunt Karen, and my dad a hug for me. You will always be a part of me, I love you soooooo much and I will miss you forever and ever. 🤍 YOU ARE THE BEST OF US!!!''

Benedict Garrett on Kiara Advani facing backlash over Tabaahi song Taking to his Instagram account, Benedict Garrett shared a video slamming netizens who criticised Kiara Advani and praising Yash. He said, “I've seen people praising Yash, filling his comments with free emojis and saying how amazing he looks. But when it comes to Kiara Advani, she’s become the butt of jokes. People are saying things like, Oh, she only just got married; she’s a mother. She's on a honeymoon instead of Sidharth Malhotra. Seriously.” Also Read: Toxic: Makers drop major hint amid buzz over Yash starrer's release date He wrote in his caption along with the video. "Why is Kiara Advani being attacked for doing her job, while Yash is being praised for doing exactly the same thing?" Adding about Yash, he's married too. “You see, Yash, he's also married; he also has children. So why is only the woman getting the abuse, while the man apparently gets the applause? Listen, here’s the reality check. They are actors. Their job is to act, to portray characters, to make you believe that they are in love, even when they’re not. Their job is to tell stories that reflect the human experience.” Also Read: Toxic starring Yash lands in legal trouble; activist moves to CBFC over 'obscene and offensive scenes'

One of the world-renowned festivals, originating from Puri, a coastal city situated in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, the Jagannath Rath Yatra begins today, marking the start of a grand nine-day chariot festival. Millions of devotees gather to pull the giant wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra as they journey to their aunt's home, the Gundicha temple. But did you know a legend says the Rath Yatra in Puri used to have six chariots instead of three in ancient times? Let's delve in to know more.

What is the legend behind the six chariots during Rath Yatra in Puri?

A legend states that a river named Malini used to flow across the grand road (Bada Danda road, Puri), a 3.5 km stretch through which the chariots are to be pulled, as per several reports. Devotees used three chariots to reach the river bank. They carried the deities across the water and then used three more chariots to reach the Gundicha temple.

Also Read: Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra begins amid IMD's forecast for heavy rain

Unlike in the present year's Rath Yatra, during ancient times, the pulling of six chariots happened from Srimandir to the riverbank and the other three from the riverbank to the Gundicha temple. Then the deities were taken to the other side of the river through a makeshift bridge. Then the deities were mounted on the three chariots waiting on the other side of the river. These three chariots were pulled to the Gundicha temple.

Also Read: Rath Yatra 2026: King's vision to millions of devotees — The ancient story behind Lord Jagannath's annual chariot journey

Back then, of the nine days, the Holy Trinity’s stay at Gundicha temple was three days only. The remaining six days were spent getting used to the journey. This apart, devotees would face difficulty in pulling six chariots on the sand. One day, Saradha Devi, wife of the then king Gajapati Narasingha Dev, dreamt of Lord Jagannath ordering her to make the Rath Yatra free from any obstacles. After the vision, the mouth of the river Malini was closed, and the river was filled with sand. This closed mouth is now called Banki Muhana, and since then the place has been known as Saradha Setti or Saradha Baali. The devotees then put the holy sand of Saradha Baali on their heads, rub the sand on their entire body, roll in the sand and are fully absorbed with love for Mahaprabhu.

Today, the Malini River has dried up or shifted, and the Grand Road is a continuous 3.5 km stretch. Therefore, starting from the 13th century (during the era of King First Bhanudev), the festival was simplified to use just three massive chariots for the entire journey.

How many wheels are there in the three chariots for every year's Rath Yatra in Puri?

The three sacred chariots of the Rath Yatra have a total of 42 wheels. Each chariot is unique and has a different number of wheels. Lord Jagannath's chariot (Nandighosha) has 16 wheels, Lord Balabhadra's chariot (known as Taladhwaja) has 14 wheels and Devi Subadhra's chariot (Devadalana/Darpadalana) has 12 wheels. The wooden wheels are giant, measuring about seven feet in diameter. Each chariot carries one of the deities and is distinct in height, colour, and number of wheels.

Also Read: COVID-19 scare in India after 2 deaths in Andhra Pradesh: Odisha on alert ahead of Rath Yatra, TN says no need to fear

The main Rath Yatra procession took place on July 16, 2026. Also Read: Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra begins amid IMD's forecast for heavy rain Unlike in the present year's Rath Yatra, during ancient times, the pulling of six chariots happened from Srimandir to the riverbank and the other three from the riverbank to the Gundicha temple. Then the deities were taken to the other side of the river through a makeshift bridge. Then the deities were mounted on the three chariots waiting on the other side of the river. These three chariots were pulled to the Gundicha temple. Also Read: Rath Yatra 2026: King's vision to millions of devotees — The ancient story behind Lord Jagannath's annual chariot journey Back then, of the nine days, the Holy Trinity’s stay at Gundicha temple was three days only.
The monsoons bring along not only pleasant weather, but also excessive amounts of moisture, which can be harmful for the interior of your house. With increasing humidity levels, your wooden furniture starts swelling, fabrics start holding moisture, metal furniture develops rust, and an unpleasant smell starts emanating from the furniture. However, all of these problems are avoidable. All it takes is some preventive measures taken prior to the onset of the rainy season.

Mistake 1: Inadequate protection of wooden furniture

Since the material is natural and has its own characteristics, wood tends to absorb water easily. Thus, chances are high that your wooden furniture might swell, get warped or even mould during the humid weather in the monsoon period. Such issues can be avoided by covering wooden furniture with wax or wood oil before the onset of the rainy season. It is applicable in all spaces, especially in inaccessible places.

Mistake 2: Arrangement of furniture near the walls

The arrangement of the sofa, wardrobe, or bed close to the walls outside the room will prevent moisture flow inside and lead to moisture and mould accumulation inside the room. But having two to three inches of additional space between the furniture and the floor is very effective.

Representative of the furniture in the house

Mistake 3: Ignoring upholstery materials

Moisture makes the sofa material a suitable area for growth of smell and fungus. Cleaning and drying up the furniture well before the rainy season is essential. One can also spray some form of protection on the sofas and chairs. The best way would be to use soft linen furniture covers.

‘’It is only those homes which have made adequate preparation before the monsoon that make sure that their furniture looks beautiful when the rains come through. Furniture cleaning, wood treatment, a fabric spray, taking out items from walls, all of them are not very difficult or costly, yet the difference it makes in the period of three months with high humidity becomes a lot significant. I always advise the homeowners to look at the process of preparing the furniture during pre-monsoon, just like they do with their skin care routines. The little effort before the harm happens will make sure that it lasts for many years to come. Monsoon is such a beautiful season. Why not your furniture?'' Raghunandan Saraf, Founder and CEO of Saraf Furniture.

Mistake 4: Ignoring your balcony furniture

The outdoor place, especially the balcony, is the place where furniture gets affected by rain first. Metal can rust, whereas cane and rattan can become weak due to the constant moisture exposure. Move all the movable outdoor furniture inside and use waterproof covers for the rest before the monsoon season starts.

The most common mistake that homeowners commit prior to the monsoon season is waiting for their furniture to show any signs of damage before doing anything about it. Prevention is always better than cure. Wood furniture must be either waxed or coated with a protective sealant prior to increased humidity levels, and upholstery furniture must be properly maintained through periodic vacuuming and proper ventilation to avoid excess moisture. Furniture must be positioned several inches away from the walls to promote ventilation and avoid moisture formation. Covering balcony furniture with water-resistant covers or bringing it inside is recommended as well.

The monsoon will be on time, just like always. Whether your furniture survives it or not will depend entirely on what you do in those two weeks.

HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series is already setting itself apart from the beloved film franchise. Read to know what changes the makers would be bringing to the upcoming show.

The Harry Potter show, one of the most anticipated HBO projects, fans are eagerly waiting for. With every update, more curiosity has risen as it will be a season-long adaptation of each of the seven books in the Harry Potter series coming to the streaming platform, offering far more detail than the original films. A report has been going around that there will be major changes in the series; let's delve in to know more. What are the key changes that will take place in the Harry Potter show? In an interaction with ScreenRant, Bertie Carvel, who will be playing the role of Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge in the upcoming show has stated that there will be a different and complicated version of the character. He said, "I think that's probably true of Fudge as well, but it just takes a very different trajectory." Also Read: Step into Hogwarts! First look of Harry Potter series revealed, check inside He further said, "In a funny kind of way, Fudge is not very high status. He occupies a position of power in the wizarding world, but the extent to which he feels secure in his status is questionable. That's the canvas on which I'm working." Reportedly, Collider stated that the HBO series will be changing Fudge's story by introducing him in season 1, ie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. For the unversed, in the books, the minister does not appear directly until the second part, ie., Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. First look at new trio, Professor Snape and many more “To be honest, I'm waiting to see how these writers treat the story. I've obviously read the books and I know what interests me in terms of a trajectory. I feel again that it's highly relevant. A story about a darkening world, where the threat level feels like it's accelerating. How do our leaders respond? Do they respond with moral courage? How do they respond to their own terror of what might be coming? That feels quite urgent, but until I see the scripts, I don’t quite know what the spin on the ball is going to be. But I’m interested in it, and I think there’s a lot to be explored,” Carvel said. Also Read: Ralph Fiennes names his choice for Voldemort in Harry Potter series
