A fatwa has reportedly been issued against Aamir Khan over his marriage to Gauri Spratt. Maulana Ibrahim Hussain of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta stated that the marriage was not in accordance with Islamic law.

Following his wedding to Gauri Spratt, Aamir Khan has found himself at the centre of attention after Maulana Ibrahim Hussain, the Shahi Chief Mufti of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta, issued a fatwa against the actor. The cleric stated that the marriage was not in accordance with Islamic law. The longtime couple exchanged vows on July 5 in an intimate ceremony, and reportedly solemnised their marriage under the Special Marriage Act at Aamir's Mumbai residence. Cleric cites Sharia According to ABP News, Maulana Ibrahim Hussain said the fatwa was issued after people approached him seeking clarity on whether such a marriage was permissible under Sharia. “Actor Aamir Khan has married for the third time. There is opposition to it as well.” Also Read: Aamir Khan-Gauri Spratt wedding: Ira Khan, Junaid Khan attend the ceremony "Some Muslim brothers are also protesting against it. Just yesterday, a non-Muslim brother asked me whether such a marriage is permissible in Islam and under Sharia. Can a Muslim man, a man of faith, marry a non-Muslim woman or not? What kind of act is this?" he said. Explaining further, the cleric added, "I issued a fatwa-e-aam while referring to the Quran. I issued a public fatwa and explained Allah’s command as stated in the Quran: for Muslim men who are believers, marriage is permissible only with Muslim women and women who are believers. If a Muslim man marries a non-believing, polytheist woman, is such a marriage permissible or not? It is not permissible until she embraces the faith," as quoted by ABP News.
The makers of GDN recently unveiled the trailer of the upcoming film, featuring R Madhavan in a striking new look. With aged prosthetics, a receding hairline, and period-specific attire, he almost looked unrecognisable and quickly grabbed attention on social media. But do you know the lesser-known story of the inventor and entrepreneur Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu (G.D. Naidu), who inspired the biographical drama?

Renowned as the Edison of India, he contributed his life to engineering, public transport, manufacturing and technical education.

Who was GD Naidu?

Born on March 23, 1893, in Kalangal near Coimbatore, Naidu left school at an early age. Instead of textbooks, he chose practical experience to learn about machines, which later played a key role in his life.

Also Read: GDN trailer unveiled: R Madhavan transforms into legendary inventor G.D. Naidu; internet reacts It is said that when he was young, Naidu bought a motorcycle with money saved while working as a hotel server. Instead of riding it, he dismantled the vehicle and reassembled it to understand its mechanics. In the 1920s, he entered the transport business and operated a single motor coach between Pollachi and Palani. Over time, the enterprise became Universal Motor Service (UMS) and was one of the country's most efficient bus networks. Balasundaram Naidu developed India's first indigenous electric motor, which contributed to Coimbatore's rise as a major engineering and manufacturing hub. Other devices associated with them were an electric razor, ultra-thin shaving blades, a fruit juice extractor, a distance adjuster for film cameras, a kerosene-powered fan and a vote-recording machine. In 1952, he also introduced a two-seater petrol-powered car; however, it failed to secure government approvals. Scientists such as C.V. Raman and M. Visvesvaraya also reportedly visited his farm to observe his work. Naidu believed technical education should focus on practical skills and played a key role in establishing Arthur Hope Polytechnic and the Arthur Hope College of Engineering, now known as the Government College of Technology in Coimbatore. He stepped away from the transport business in the 1940s and then devoted most of his time to philanthropy and education. He funded research scholarships, supported employee welfare initiatives and contributed to civic development projects. "Did you know that Phunsukh Wangdu from 3 Idiots is actually based on a real-life Ladakhi engineer, innovator, educator and reformer named Sonam Wangchuk? I've met this guy. He's a pretty interesting character," he said. Vaidya called Wangchuk “humble and a pretty impressive person” and added that the activist had achieved “some incredible stuff” in life. Urging everyone to learn more about Wangchuk’s work, Vaidya said, "Right now he is on a very long hunger strike. His blood sugar has gone down very much. I don't know if you've heard about this. I don't know if the media is reporting this. But this is a pretty important thing," he added. "Whether you agree with him or not, I don't really want this guy to die," he said, urging people to take a moment from their daily lives to understand the issues at hand. Activist and lawyer Prashant Bhushan also backed Vaidya's appeal by resharing the actor's video on X. In his post, Bhushan wrote, “At least 1 character from Aamir Khan's film 3 Idiots has come out in support of Sonam Wangchuk (the inspiration behind the Aamir Khan character) who is on fast at Jantar Mantar for 17 days, seeking the resignation of Education Minister Pradhan. Waiting to see what Aamir Khan does (sic)?”

Omi Vaidya, best known for his role in 3 Idiots, has made an emotional appeal in favour of Sonam Wangchuk, whose hunger strike has entered its 16th day. Not just Vaidya but Zeenat Aman too has appealed to government to look into the matter.

"A few days ago, I visited the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and spoke about my feelings. Some people didn't like what I said because it didn't fit their agenda. They wanted to create a narrative and started looking for ways to target and troll me, to abuse me. An entire ecosystem was formed just to attack me. They said many things about me, but I only enjoyed it more because they worked so hard.
Known for her remarkable range and fearless choice of roles, Alia’s arrival marks a defining moment for the film. Her ability to seamlessly move between intimate character-driven performances and large-scale cinematic spectacles has consistently made her one of the most compelling actors of her generation. Her collaboration with actor-producer Sohum Shah, the creative force behind the Tumbbad franchise, alongside the formidable Nawazuddin Siddiqui, promises an exciting new chapter for the much-loved universe.

The coming together of these artists brings together three very different creative forces, each contributing a distinct perspective to the world of Tumbbad. With Sohum continuing to shape the universe he helped create, Nawazuddin bringing his unmistakable intensity, and Alia stepping into one of the franchise’s most significant new roles, Tumbbad 2 promises a compelling new dynamic while staying true to the spirit that made the original a modern classic.

Alia Bhatt said,“Tumbbad has stayed with me ever since I first watched it. Very few films create a world that feels this original and immersive, and even fewer continue to grow in people’s imagination years after they’ve released. That’s what makes this opportunity so exciting. To now become a part of that world is incredibly special. I’m looking forward to working with Sohum and Nawaz, two artists I’ve admired for a long time, and to exploring a character that belongs to a story as rich, mysterious and unforgettable as Tumbbad. I can’t wait for audiences to experience what we’re creating together.”

Sohum Shah, “Having Alia Bhatt come on board for Tumbbad 2 is truly delightful for all of us. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of this generation, and I am sure the audience will get to witness something unique with her in the film. We have all witnessed her incredible performances on screen right from her debut. This is my first collaboration with her, and I am genuinely looking forward to working together.”

Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by actor-producer Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. The film is directed by Adesh Prasad, who is helming the highly anticipated next chapter of the Tumbbad universe.

Pen Studios, known for backing blockbuster films such as RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi, joins hands to bring the film to life on a grand cinematic scale. Tumbbad 2 is slated to release in cinemas on 3rd December 2027.

Produced by Sohum Shah Films, Tumbbad is a folklore fantasy feature film. Set in a Maharashtra village, the movie revolves around Vinayak Rao (Shah), who finds a mythical treasure guarded by the malevolent entity Hastar.

The world of Tumbbad 2 is getting bigger, and the most recent and biggest addition to the movie is Alia Bhatt. The Gangubai actress has joined Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sohum Shah for the sequel to the 2018 film. Tumbbad is a rare cinematic phenomenon that redefined the folklore fantasy genre and has only grown in stature since its release. Celebrated for its rich world-building, atmospheric storytelling and visual ambition, the film has earned an enduring cult following over the years. Its re-release went on to become the highest-grossing re-release in Indian cinema, reaffirming its place as one of the country’s most celebrated modern classics. Alia Bhatt joins Tummbad Now, Tumbbad 2 is set to expand that world on an even grander canvas. With Nawazuddin Siddiqui already confirmed as part of the cast, the addition of Alia Bhatt further underscores the scale and creative ambition of the film. Emily expressed gratitude for all that went on in the past year. She said, "But what does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people and so many things that have happened to us.

In June, Blake Lively revealed that she wants $8 million as a legal fee from Justin Baldoni. This was the money that she incurred during her much-publicised legal case with her It Ends with Us co-star.

Days after Blake Lively knocked on the doors of the court against Justin Baldoni for legal fees, the It Ends With Us actor has reportedly asked the judge to deny or "substantially reduce" the actress's demand for the whopping $8 million legal fee request. On June 30, the Gossip Girl star asked a judge for $8,035,040.88 in attorneys' fees and litigation costs after the dismissal of his defamation lawsuit against the actress. Justin Baldoni request to Judge to deny or ‘substantially reduce’ In a new update, reported by PEOPLE, Baldoni has filed a new request alongside Wayfarer Studios over the costs that Lively is demanding. In a filing submitted on Monday, July 13, they have described the actresses' request as “anything but a typical fee motion,” arguing that her attorneys charged “excessive” hourly rates. They have asked the court to either deny or “substantially reduce” the fees. In the recent filing, they have claimed that Blake's team of attorneys was overstaffed, saying there were, ‘’multiple attorneys at hearings, excessive internal conferencing, and 7,070.20 billable hours billed by 82 timekeepers, which, according to the filing, is about 20 times what courts have previously approved in comparable high-profile defamation cases,'' as reported by PEOPLE. In the recent filing, Baldoni referenced a similar fee request from The New York Times, but noted that the Times only sought $181,622.70 in attorneys’ fees, which, in comparison to Lively’s, is a much smaller amount. This court filing has come after Baldoni and his wife Emily broke the silence on his legal battle, which ended in May. Appearing in a video with his wife Emily, the actor-director talked about the emotional toll, saying that, "we are healing".
