Actress Mouni Roy recently faced a wave of backlash over a noticeable change in her appearance during the trailer launch of her upcoming film Bhootnii, where she stars opposite Navneet Malik. Netizens speculated that the actress may have undergone another round of plastic surgery. While some guessed she had opted for a new lip enhancement, others suspected forehead botox, pointing to what they believed was an unusual dent on her head. Breaking his silence on the matter, Navneet Malik, who will be seen sharing the screen space with Mouni in the much-anticipated horror-comedy, came out in full support of his co-star and strongly criticised the trolling.

Addressing the online chatter around Mouni, Navneet said, "Firstly, I didn’t notice anything unusual. I was at the trailer launch and have spent time with her on set as well. People tend to twist things for no reason—something we all know happens often. If we keep giving such people attention, they’ll just keep spreading negativity. There could be so many reasons—honestly, I don’t even know what exactly people are talking about. Maybe it was stress, the lighting, or maybe the heat—we were standing outside in the sun, and there were too many cameras around. It’s unfair how things get misinterpreted."

He added, "Obviously, every coin has two sides—someone might want to turn things negative, but we don't give them importance. Why waste your energy on such things when so many people are working hard to entertain you? Everyone in this industry has struggled to get where they are. Instead of nitpicking, just enjoy the work and appreciate the effort."

When asked how he deals with trolls, Navneet took a firm stand, "Honestly, we don't react to trolls—we ignore them. Their efforts to bring us down don’t affect us at all. They're only wasting their own time. We’re focused on our work and will continue doing what we love—entertaining people who truly appreciate it. Ekta Kapoor is yet to announce the new face of her hit fantasy show Naagin 7, but looks like Bollywood has found one of its own shape shifting snake. Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar are collaborating for a film called Naagzilla. Aaryan will be joining the estmeeded company of the likes Sridevi, Mouni Roy, Tejasswi Prakash, and more and plays a shape-shifting snake in the film. This is Aaryan and Johar’s second project that has been announced recently. Karan Johar-Kartik Aaryan collaborate The actor-director duo had a very public fallout a few years back when Aaryan had walked out of Dostana 2. The film never materialized but Kaartik Aaryan and Karan Johar buried the hatchet and earlier this year announced a new project together titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. Naagzilla will be their second project together. Starring Kartik in the lead as Ichchadhari Naag Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, Naagzilla is being directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who directed the Fukrey franchise. A motion poster was shared earlier on Tuesday where Kartik is seen flaunting his bulked-up back, which slowly turns into snake skin. After delivering a praiseworthy performance in his debut film Qala, Babil Khan made a splashing entry into the world of OTT with ZEE5 film Logout.

Babil Khan on films, ZEE5 film Logout and Irrfan Khan's secret to looking ageless on screen

Babil Khan understood the assignment when he made his debut in Hindi cinema with Qala. It’s not easy being the son of a truly masterful actor like Irrfan Khan, but he had to do the job, now that he had volunteered for it. With his latest OTT movie Logout streaming on ZEE5, Babil Khan plays a character who is in stark contrast to his offscreen personality but when you mention that to him, he agrees and disagrees both.

In Logout, Babil plays a digital influencer named Pratyush who is obsessed with social media and can’t get enough of his phone in Logout. His life takes a turn when a stalker gets hold of his phone and his life.

In an exclusive interview, Babil Khan spoke about playing Pratyush, tapping into his inner darkness to play different roles, even the ones that might seem very different from his ‘real’ personality, on his father Irrfan Khan, his favourite films of the legendary actor and whether he’d be open to play him in a biopic in the future.

Here are the edited excerpts of our long and fun chat:

Q: You come across as a private person in real life. Whereas Pratyush is someone who is outgoing and always on social media. How did you get to play that character?

Babil: I genuinely believe that we, when we define ourselves, and we give ourselves an identity, we're just creating another image. Do you know of Carl Jung. He was a pioneer in psychology. He spoke about this idea of a darkness within us, which we deny because we need our identity to be good, because of our moral relativism, right? We want to label everything as black and white or good or bad or right or wrong. But the truth is that we are all in the middle. From there, we can choose to go anywhere.

We all have a serial killer inside us, but we choose not to be that. So, to play a character, all you have to do is look inside. You have to look inside and be aware of your demons.

Q: What’s the one advice you’d give Pratyush if you happened to meet him in real life?

Babil: I think I wouldn't be able to reach his heart if I met him in the first half of the film. But I hope I would meet him in the second half because there’s a kind of redeeming arc of his soul, of his spirit and empathy. I wouldn't give him any advice. The film and the journey….his life taught him enough. I would just like to see that transition in him.

Wow, it’s so ironic and strange. It’s me, but it’s not me (sic).

Q: In the film, Pratyush loses his phone to a stalker. How would you react if you lost your phone to a fan in real life?

Babil: I don't keep my phone anywhere near me.I hate my phone. It gives me a lot of anxiety. So, I would be very grateful to that fan. I would send her a letter saying, ‘thank you for my freedom’.

All my secrets are in my heart and not on phone.

Q: Are you someone who keeps a diary?

Babil: I write notes, but it’s not something serious. It’s mostly bad poetry. It’s mostly brain farts that I don’t want to share with the world. I don’t want to share, not because I am afraid of sharing something but because it’s for me to keep. These are ideas that I would rather let grow than expose and let opinions filter it or dilute the intensity of that thought.

Babil: Giving a favourite would be too tough, but I can give you a top five if you want. Paan Singh Tomar, Lunchbox, Madaari, this HBO series In Treatment, Life of Pi….these are just five and not the top five. If I am in a bad mood, I can pick up Qarib Qarib Single any day and watch it.
Q: Babil, how do you like the idea of starring in a biopic on your father Irrfan Khan’s life?

Babil: I would actually and it would be an honour but the thought is too scary for me right now. My dada was someone who lived that darkness I was talking about. He actually lived that life. I am just talking about them at the age of 26. He dedicated his entire life to these ideas.

This is why he could play all these characters without ever ageing on screen. You could never say how old he was. He could be a hundred years old or 20 years old. He never needed VFX. Hence, he could play a serial killer and a hopeless romantic with such ease.

Several intellectuals, whom I respect immensely, have been hurt due to my anger and way I spoke. I sincerely apologise to this community, to whom I did not intend to say this, but in the heat of the moment, I wrote it while responding to someone's vile comment. I apologise to all my supportive friends, my family, and the community for my way of speaking and for using inappropriate language. Going forward, I will work to ensure this does not happen again. I will work on my anger. And if I need to address an issue, I will use the right words. I hope you will forgive me (sic)." Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan are busy promoting their upcoming film Thug Life. The film which has been helmed by Mani Ratnam, features Haasan and several other stars including Silambarasan TR and Sanya Malhotra. During one of the promotional events, Kamal’s joke on Trisha’s expense has left the internet divided. What did Kamal Haasan say to Trisha Krishnan? When a reporter asked Trisha about her favourite dish, the actress said, “I like eating them all, but I like boiled banana more. What’s it called?” She was referring to a dish called pazham pori, a type of banana fritters typical to south India. Jyotika poses with Trisha Krishnan, Ramya at a brunch party, Suriya clicks selfie with the ladies Kamal reminded her what it’s called and joked, “She doesn’t know the name but likes putting it in her mouth.” Trisha laughed it off, and a few seconds later, Kamal, too, patted her on the knee to show the comment was made in jest. The video of their interaction is now doing rounds on X (formerly Twitter). Imagine the outrage if any Telugu senior hero passed the same comment.
