Entertainment Lifestyle Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has been appointed as luxury label Chanel's newest brand ambassador.
Award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar is now Chanel’s brand ambassador. The fashion house confirmed the news on Monday via Business of Fashion.
The announcement featured Kendrick Lamar sporting Chanel’s latest eyewear campaign, which will launch on April 22.
In a statement, the Grammy-winning artist said, “I visited the Chanel ateliers and saw the process of how something goes from design to execution. Seeing the people who work hard and bring these visions to life resonates with me. Chanel has a timeless legacy and that is always something I can get behind. Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses.”
News of Chanel and Kendrick Lamar’s partnership comes as he and SZA begin their joint “Grand National Tour,” which will hit 19 stadiums across North America, between April and June of 2025.
They kicked off the tour in Minneapolis on April 19. They set the stage on fire with a 52-song performance and a nine-act set that saw the two megastars performing solo and together.
Lamar kicked off the night with "wacced out murals," rapping from the front seat of the now-iconic black Buick. He followed that up with "squabble up," "King Kunta," "ELEMENT," and "tv off," before ceding the stage to SZA for a run through her CTRL-era hits: "Love Galore," "Broken Clock," and "The Weekend."
