Vasan Bala deactivates X account after Alia Bhatt's Jigra box office debacle

Seems like Vasan Bala is very much done with all the trolling. The director and his recent release Jigra has been the subject of a lot of criticism, and to stay away from all of it, Vasan has chosen to stay a little off the social media.
Days after facing trolling for defending Jigra's box office number, Bala has now deactivated his X account.
Bala's handle on the micro-bloggingsite was active a few days ago. However, on Saturday (Oct 20), someusers spotted that Bala's posts haddisappeared. However, the director didn't post anything before deactivating his X account. So it's unclear what was the exact reason behind deleting his X account, and whether he would be returning or not.
Bala's movie Jigra has been thetarget of trollers, who are bashing the movie over several things like fake box officenumbers, nepotism with producer Karan favouring Alia Bhatt for the role and plagiarism among other things. The movie's poor box office performance has also become a major point of discussion.
Defending the box office collection of the movie, Vasan told The Hollywood Reporter India in an interview that he was surprised by the film's failure.

He said, "The surprise was the failure because you obviously don’t set out to fail. Also, this was not a very stubborn, I-will-only-deliver-it-this-way kind of film. I thought it was a pretty accessible, straight-arrow film, and the emotions were universal."
In the same conversation, Bala said that he felt that he let down both Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt.
He said, "I do feel it. I feel it majorly. I mean, they are supremely supportive, and there is no ounce of letting me feel like this. It is something that I have to grapple with."
The movie has also been accused of plagiarism, with actor Divya Khossla Kumar saying that Jigra is a copy of her movie Savi. However, the director refrained from commenting on the allegations, saying that he didn't want to add more fuel to it by commenting.
Meanwhile, Jigra has seen a further drop in the second week of its release. As per Sacnilk, the movie has earned Rs 23.6 crore.
