Pakistani TikToker Ayesha Shamsu’s murder investigation has taken another turn as the police have arrested five people, including her father and brother, over allegations that she was killed in the name of “honour.”
According to reports, police officials revealed that Ayesha, also known as Shamsu Bibi or Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead in Taxila on August 14. She was 28. While initially it appeared to be a case involving a financial dispute is now being investigated as an alleged family conspiracy.
According to Rawalpindi police, the team has identified Ayesha’s father, Fazal Sahib, her brother Bashir, her father’s uncle Rozi Khan, cousin Ahsaan and Yasin, the son of Ahsaan, among those arrested in connection with the case.
The two suspected shooters are also in custody.
Police said Ayesha’s father and brother were questioned after investigators uncovered alleged inconsistencies in the original version of events. It is claimed that the two are accused of helping orchestrate the killing along with other suspects.
One of the most shocking developments in the case is that Ayesha’s father was the original complainant in the murder case.
In the FIR, he alleged that his daughter had received threats from people involved in a financial dispute.
According to the initial complaint, Ayesha had been creating content on TikTok for three to four years and had amassed around 1.3 million followers.
Her father claimed that two men owed her money and had allegedly threatened her over the dispute.
However, the investigation later took a different direction.
According to police, special teams examined footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and used technical evidence, intelligence inputs and other investigative methods to reconstruct the events surrounding Ayesha’s death. The evidence, police said, prompted investigators to focus on her immediate family and relatives.
Preliminary findings suggest that Ayesha’s family allegedly objected to her social media activities, which police believe may have contributed to the alleged murder plot.
According to reports, Ayesha was travelling in a car with her younger sister and brother when she was attacked near a petrol station in the Taxila area.
Her father had stated that Ayesha received a call from a man identified as Kashif, alias Kashi, before leaving home. She was reportedly shot in the neck after two motorcycle-borne attackers approached the vehicle and opened fire.
The car subsequently crashed, leaving Ayesha’s younger sister injured. Investigation is currently underway.
