Pop sensation and country star Miley Cyrus has been accused of copying Bruno Mars' 2012 song "When I Was Your Man" for her Grammy-winning hit "Flowers". Tempo Music Investments has sued the singer, claiming that the two tracks have “many musical similarities”.

The investment platform, which allegedly owns a share of the copyright for the 2012 track, alleges that the harmony, chorus, melody, chord progressions and even lyrics were "intentionally" taken from Bruno's song.

Bruno, himself, is not a plaintiff in the copyright infringement case.

Earlier this year, Miley bagged her first Grammy award for her song "Flowers", which won record of the year. She also got a Grammy for best pop solo performance.

“This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday,” Cyrus said during her record of the year acceptance speech.

“Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular, so please don’t think that this is important," she added.

Back in June, Miley gave an interview to W Magazine and questioned why the Recording Academy took so long to recognise her contribution to the pop music industry. “No shade, but I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time actually being taken seriously at the Grammys?” she said.
