Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, met local artists, designers and entrepreneurs on September 30 while visiting Johannesburg's Victoria Yards, a redeveloped complex of former industrial buildings that now house markets and artists' studios.

A post on the Sussex Royal Instagram account said Meghan was struck by the work of a local denim designer and met with the owners of a vegan sorbet business which uses unused fruit from Victoria Yards.

The post also highlighted a number of local organisations that support marginalised youth and women.

After visiting South Africa last week with his wife Meghan and their four-month-old son Archie, Prince Harry left them there and travelled alone to Botswana, Angola and Malawi.

He will rejoin them on October 2 in South Africa for a township visit near Johannesburg.

They will also meet Graca Machel, widow of South African anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela, and President Cyril Ramaphosa before returning to London.
