Renowned Manipuri guitarist and Western music pioneer Chongtham Vikram Singh, 54, died following an alleged physical assault by a group of individuals near his residence in southeast Delhi’s Kilokari village.
Manipuri musician Chongtham Vikram Singh was beaten to death outside his home in southeast Delhi's Kilokari Village on September 7. The singer, who was a guitarist and music teacher, was allegedly attacked by eight people after he confronted them for shouting and creating a nuisance late at night. The matter escalated, and Singh suffered major injuries after he was beaten outside his house.
Days later, he succumbed to his injuries. His postmortem report revealed he died of massive internal bleeding caused by blunt trauma to the chest and abdomen.

On Sept 7, Chongtham Vikram Singh succumbed to the injuries that a group of people with fists and heavy blows allegedly attacked him. Following the assault, Singh was taken to the hospital, but he tragically died while undergoing medical treatment. Now, his autopsy report has revealed that the singer passed away at 6:32 am from hemorrhagic shock (internal bleeding).
“Hemoperitoneum (internal bleeding) approx two litres with 160gm of clotted blood is present in the peritoneal (abdomen) cavity…” reads the report. The AIIMS postmortem report also found multiple bruises and abrasions on his head, face, neck, chest, and legs. It also revealed fractures on the ribs, with bleeding around them.

It has also been reported that around two litres of blood had accumulated in the abdominal cavity, along with 160 grams of clotted blood.
As per TOI, hospital records also mentioned that an eFAST examination was done, and it indicated internal bleeding in the abdomen and a suspected splenic laceration.
Manipuri singer Chongtham Vikram Singh beaten to death: What happened on the night of Sept 6
Manipuri guitarist Chongtham Vikram Singh was beaten to death in Delhi on Sept 6 after he raised his voice against a group of boys, dhaba staff and delivery boys, who were creating a ruckus outside his home at around 11:30 PM.
However, after the confrontation, the singer was allegedly beaten by the group when he objected and then returned to his home. Delhi Police has arrested seven accused in connection with the death. The case has been registered under Section 103(2).
Former Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh also shared CCTV footage from the building showing a group of boys going down the staircase, presumably after beating the singer.
As per South East DCP Vineet Kumar, “Vikram Singh had an argument with some people in his lane over a lot of noise coming. After the argument, there was a physical altercation between them, in which he suffered injuries. His family took him to the hospital, where he passed away.”
