Lionel Richie has some brand new information on the health status of King Charles amid his cancer treatment.

While attending the inaugural King’s Trust Global Gala in New York, Lionel Richie said that the English monarch is doing fine. He assured everyone gathered and said, “He is doing fantastic”.

When asked if the cancer has taken a toll on him, Lionel said, “Again, I understand, he needs to sit still, you know what I’m saying. The most important part is he is doing well. He’s back to his duties and so therefore, I wouldn’t want the first thing for him to do is come over — let’s not prove anything here.”

Lionel Richie serves as a King’s Trust Global Ambassador and Chairman of the Global Ambassadors Group. He told People, “We are here to represent and we’re gonna do a great job of that.”

Lionel Richie is certain that once the inaugural event is over, he'll receive a phone call from King Charles who will want to know all about how the evening went. He said, “Believe me, my question [from him] now is, ‘How was it?’ After I finish tonight, I’m gonna get that call saying, ‘Well, how was it?’”

King Charles recently made his first public outing amid his cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace has a few events lined up for King Charles as the monarch plans to return to his official duties slowly. In late June, the monarch will host a state visit at Buckingham Palace for the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
