Cher's ex-husband Bono once wanted to kill her because she wanted to sleep with.....

Cher with Sonny Bono

Cher wasn’t happy with her marriage to Sonny Bono after a point in time. Even though she expressed her desire to break up, Sonny wouldn’t give in. What comes next will surprise you.

In a new revelation made about Cher’s life courtesy of her memoir, Cher: The Memoir Part One which was released on November 19, she writes that Sonny Bono once wanted to kill her because she asked to sleep with Bill, a guitarist in their band. She was so unhappy with her ex-sonny that she wanted to irk him with this demand.

Cher reveals dark secrets in memoir

The Believe singer in her memoir opened up about the darkest phases of her life, including her turbulent marriage with the late singer and politician. Her marriage to Bono lasted from 1964 to 1975. Cher was so unhappy in the marriage that she considered committing suicide by jumping off the balcony of a Las Vegas hotel room. She wrote in her memoir that in October 1972, she confessed to her then-husband that she wanted to sleep with Bill, a guitarist in their band.

Cher added in her memoir that while she did not actually mean it, she thought it was the only way to make Bono leave her. She wrote, “The silence was deafening. Then [Sonny] said, ‘How long do you think you’ll need?’” She told him, “Two hours,” before he left her with Bill, whose shoulder she cried on.

Bono and Cher eventually decided to part ways. Bono however allowed it on one condition – Cher would have to continue living with him during the week to preserve their public image.

Sonny Bono told her one morning, “You know, after you went off with Bill that night at the Sahara, I seriously thought about throwing you off our balcony. He laughed a little at that and so did I. It was crazy that he was telling me.”

In her memoir, Cher went on to say, “He went on: ‘I figured I’d plead insanity like Spade Cooley and get seven years in jail before they released me. Then I’d get a book deal and my own show.'”

Cher then surprised him by adding that “there would have been no need to push me because I was gonna jump!'”
