Ben Affleck helped wife Jennifer Lopez during Atlas' rehearsal, reveals co-star

In the new Netflix film Atlas, Jennifer Lopez takes on the role of data analyst Atlas Shepherd, a character who grapples with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence. Her journey is put to the test as she embarks on a mission to capture a renegade robot. Lopez's portrayal of Atlas is garnering attention, not only for her compelling performance but also for the sweet way her husband, Ben Affleck, helped her prepare for the role.

Sterling K. Brown, Lopez's co-star in Atlas, recently shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly how Affleck's involvement played a pivotal role in Jennifer's performance. Affleck, 51, would often read the lines of Smith, the AI companion voiced by Gregory James Cohan, to help Lopez perfect her character.

"Every once in a while, Ben would read the lines for Smith. And I think the newlyweds, still very much in love, I think she just wanted to hear his voice," Brown, 48, revealed. "And so sometimes, the reactions that you got from her were because she was listening to her husband's voice."

Smith's character, as described by Tudum, exists solely as a voice within Atlas' suit. The film explores the evolving dynamic between the initially combative duo, who eventually learn to work together despite Atlas' numerous reservations.

While Lopez, 54, was busy working on her role for Atlas, Affleck was busy with his own project, The Accountant 2, whichreportedly prevented him from attending Lopez's film premiere in Los Angeles on May 20. His absence has fueled speculation about the couple's relationship, with reports suggesting they are living separately and experiencing tension in their marriage.

During a promotional event for Atlas in Mexico City on May 22, Lopez was questioned about her marriage. She curtly responded to the reporter, "You know better than that," dismissing the inquiry. Co-star Simu Liu quickly came to her defence, urging the reporter to maintain a positive tone.

"If I could just end on one thing, Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I am here and why Sterling [K. Brown] was in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares," Liu, 35, said. "And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she's a boss."
