It's confirmed! The sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is in the works. The original 2003 film featured Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in lead roles and went on to become a box-office success.
After almost 23 years, the sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days has been confirmed. The project, backed by Paramount, is currently in its early stages, and a screenwriter is yet to be finalised.
The 2003 film starred Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in lead roles, and now makers are reportedly trying to bring them back to the sequel, with the actress attached as a producer. However, as of now, there is no confirmation that either actor has signed on to appear in the sequel.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel
Hudson will produce the film with Stacey Sher through Shiny Penny Productions. Details about the plot are yet to be announced.
The original film, released in theatres in February 2003, became one of the most popular romantic comedies of its time. Directed by Donald Petrie, the film follows Hudson's magazine writer Andie, who chooses to test a dating theory for a story by attempting to drive a man away within 10 days.

Her target turns out to be advertising executive Ben, played by McConaughey, who has a secret wager of his own. He is determined to prove that he can make any woman fall for him within the same period. Their schemes eventually lead to an unexpected romance.
The film was a box-office success and went on to earn more than USD 177 million worldwide. It also starred Kathryn Hahn, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, Michael Michele and Shalom Harlow in key roles.
Will McConaughey return?
Hudson had previously shared that she and McConaughey could be interested in returning. "All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script. I think we’re both totally open; it has just never happened."
She had also imagined what life might look like for Andie and Ben years after the events of the first film. "I’ve always thought about what Matthew and I’s characters would be now, if we were still together. It’s actually probably a good amount of time [that has passed] to make a movie about it. We probably would have gotten married with kids. We’re probably miserable right now!"
The two stars have often spoken about the chemistry that helped make their pairing memorable. "[With] respect to our now-partners, we do kiss nicely. It was always a very nice kiss," Hudson said during the 20th anniversary of the film.
McConaughey, meanwhile, has said, "We enjoy going toe-to-toe."
The actor also recently described the film as one of his most successful romantic comedies. "It still pays the best ‘mailbox money’ of any film I’ve ever done, by far," he said.
