Game Of Thrones: Isaac Hempstead Wright who played Bran thought he had got a 'joke script'

Game of Thrones finale.

Actor Isaac Hempstead Wright who played Bran Stark in the hugely popular series 'Game Of Thrones' had initially thought the season 8 script was a prank the writers had played on him.

Wright's character Bran ultimately got the Iron throne, much to everyone's surprise and disappointment. Bran, a three-eyed raven, may have seen the future and predicted his claim to the throne, but the actor stated that he was given a 'joke script'.Read the review of the final episode here.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Wright said, "When I got to the [Dragonpit scene] in the last episode, and they’re like, ‘What about Bran?’ I had to get up and pace around the room,” he said. “I genuinely thought it was a joke script and that [showrunners] David and Dan sent to everyone a script where their own character ends up on the Iron Throne. I was like, ‘Yeah, good one guys. Oh shit! It’s actually real?!’”

Wright assumption wouldn't be all wrong considering the show's creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss had earlier sent the cast hoax scripts. In Season 1 Kit Harrington had received a script which stated that his character Jon Snow's face would get disfigured.

In fact, Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark, had initially thought her love scene was a prank that the creators were playing on her.

Meanwhile, Wright said that even though he had hoped for a dramatic death for his character, he was ultimately satisfied with how the series ended.'Game of Thrones' will not have sequel series or spinoff, confirms HBO president

Commenting on the backlash that the series has been receiving, Wright said, "It’s difficult to finish a series as popular as this without pissing some people off. I don’t think anybody will think it’s predictable and that’s as much as you can hope for. It’s ‘bittersweet,’ exactly as (author) George RR Martin intended. It’s a fitting conclusion to this epic saga.”
